JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the University Ombuds, the Associate Ombuds provides dispute resolution to faculty, staff, and students and supports the administration of the Ombuds Office. The Associate Ombuds does outreach, mediation, coaching, facilitation, and training. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

50% - Essential - Dispute Resolution, Consultation and Referral:
Identifies and clarifies concerns and conflicts, and generates and evaluates options for resolution of conflicts. Advocates for fair process and the administration of processes. Provides coaching, mediation, and facilitation to faculty, staff, and students toward the resolution of their concerns.

20% - Essential - Outreach:
Reaches out to groups across campus to inform them about the Ombuds Office and its services. Meets groups around the state to engage faculty, staff, and students in all areas. Meets with groups and individuals to broaden the network that knows and accesses the Ombuds Office.

15% - Essential - Administrative Services:
Performs administrative tasks, such as ordering supplies, arranging travel, completing expense reports, and other administrative tasks as assigned.

10% - Essential - Training and Education:
In collaboration with the University Ombuds, designs and delivers education and training programs for faculty, staff, and students related to conflict management/resolution and related topics.

5% - Essential - Professional Development:
Engages in appropriate and ongoing continuing education and development, including but not limited to requirements to attain and maintain ombuds certification.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education - Bachelor's Degree and relevant program management experience.

Experience - 3 years experience as an organizational ombuds or dispute resolution professional.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Education - Master's Degree

Relevant field experience in higher education leadership is preferred.

No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Education - Master's Degree

Relevant field experience in higher education leadership is preferred.
