Facilities



Campus is located on 9.8 acres and consists of three building totaling 426,898 GSF. The Campus is easily accessed by car, GBT bus, walking distance from Metro North, Amtrak and Port Jefferson Ferry. The campus is unique in hosting an art collection with over 8,000 pieces.



Public Safety



The Public Safety Department is a blended department consisting of Master Sergeant, five police officers, 19 security guards, a building and ground patrol officer and two LAZ parking attendants.



IT Department



Housatonic has made great strides in upgrading to state-of-the-art technology. Technology updates have been made to many of the classrooms on campus due largely to COVID relief funding. A new computer lab in Lafayette Hall opened this semester. The Educational Technology Department provides training and assistance to faculty and students on the use of instructional technologies.



Food Pantry



In an effort to combat food insecurity, the campus provides students with opportunities to receive healthy and nutritious non-perishable items and a variety of fresh vegetables and fruits. The food pantry is open every day and receives approximately 270 visits per month. Weekly-Wednesday Fresh Food Day provides approximately 80 students a selection of fresh produce.



Finance Department



CT State Housatonic Campus has a total operating budget of $45,634,571.



Bookstore



The on campus and online bookstore operated by Follett, has the required course materials as well as general supplies, art and lab supplies, trade and reference books, computer peripherals, gift cards, and CT State Housatonic apparel. Other services include a Buyback program where students can sell their books back to the store and extended hours at the beginning of each semester.



Dining



The campus has 2 cafes operated by an outside vendor.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the President of CT State Community College (CSCC) or designee, the Campus CEO is the lead campus administrator. The Campus CEO serves as a key member of the CT State senior management team, and functions as an on-site operational excellence leader, providing guidance on developing and implementing strategic business plans, as well as providing input on budgetary, enrollment, target-setting, related matters.
The incumbent is expected to focus on institutional continuous improvement in all identified areas of performance, operational oversight of campus functions (such as staffing, academic programming, and student affairs), maintenance of a sound infrastructure, and promotion of a safe and comfortable environment. In addition, the Campus CEO must be knowledgeable of all facets of campus functions, adept at influence and collaboration skills in a highly matrixed organization, and be able to identify opportunities for improving operational excellence across all departments.


Incumbents must possess proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.)



Example of Job Duties:

    The Campus CEO ensures that the campus has the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and people systems in place to effectively execute.
  • Supports the fundraising efforts of the campus foundations acting as spokesperson for campus, donor liaison, and helps identify needs for foundation investment.

  • Assures adequate resources are in place for faculty, students, and staff to perform to their potential.

  • Develops the operational strategy and guides development and implementation of operational excellence initiatives.

  • Works with stakeholders to identify, define, and execute significant process improvement projects; engages with campus leadership to understand their concerns and issues to discern opportunities for improvements.

  • Ensures that the campus has staff that is qualified, trained, and motivated to perform the responsibilities set forth in their respective position descriptions; ensures the efficient and effective performance of all campus employees.

  • Establishes strategies and specific measurable goals to increase enrollment, attendance, and persistence at the campus.

  • Establishes strategies and specific measurable goals to increase graduation rates and success at the campus.

  • Motivates, coaches, and develops those individuals across the organization involved in leading or executing operational excellence or continuous improvement objectives.

  • Assesses, analyzes, and implements solutions across the campus to identify and eliminate waste, reduce costs, promote educational excellence, and improve the student experience.

  • Monitor performance and, in particular, provide in-depth and timely management commentary on operational excellence results and lead the debate on any corrective measures and other control processes.

  • Oversee general management and leadership of campus operations to achieve overall plans and objectives

  • Identify new processes and/or systems to improve capital efficiency, productivity, and automation/digitization, and thereby make the business more efficient and simpler.

  • Related duties as required.

In addition to the accountabilities listed above, the incumbent is required to carry out the essential duties of: Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies; Service on assigned committees and task forces; Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings. These may involve attendance at evening or weekend events.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications include an advanced degree plus five (5) years' experience leading multi-functional teams in higher education setting or an organization of similar complexity. Also required is a well-rounded understanding of methods and ways to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve the quality of education and student experience in a higher education or comparable environment.

Starting Salary:

Anticipated Salary; $157,974 approximate annual plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits.
