The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Florida A&M University - Florida State University (FAMU-FSU) joint College of Engineering invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate is expected to establish and maintain a robust externally funded research program, have a strong commitment to teaching excellence in undergraduate and graduate courses, and participate in college and professional service.

Qualifications

Candidates must possess an earned Ph.D. in civil and/or environmental engineering or closely related discipline. The successful candidates will work in areas that complement and strengthen existing faculty research and teaching in water resources.

Preferred Qualifications

Possession of a Professional Engineering (PE) License or the ability to obtain a Florida PE license is highly desirable.

Helpful

We expect to hire at the Assistant Professor rank, but well-qualified candidates will be considered at a higher rank.


Although the search is open to highly qualified applicants in broad range of disciplines in these subjects, primary areas of interest are specified as follows:



Water Resources: Applicants should have expertise in one or more areas of integrated surface and groundwater management, optimization and risk analysis, remote sensing of water resources, ecosystem restoration, and water infrastructure resilience and sustainability in a changing climate, compounding flood events. Example areas of interest include but are not limited to:



  • Impact of changing climate and land cover change on regional and large-scale watershed hydrology

  • Interactions of terrestrial and coastal surface and ground water systems

  • Application of data science (such as artificial intelligence and machine learning on water resources)

  • Public health and socioenvironmental impacts of flood events, pollution, and hydro climatic extremes
