In addition to teaching, the position requires weekly office hours, attending faculty meetings, participation in assessment of student learning, and service to the department, college, and university. ANTICIPATED NEEDS:
Note: All part-time faculty appointments are temporary and do not confer academic rank. Final determination of part-time teaching assignments is contingent upon student enrollment figures and funding. Salary:
Rates listed are for full-time faculty. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the salary schedule are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.
For a three-unit assignment, compensation for Rank 2 is $4,530 and $5,405 for Rank 3 per semester.


This is how the three-unit assignment salary is calculated based on rank:


The Rank 2 base salary is $4,530. Teaching 3 units equates to a 0.20 timebase (3/15). $4,530 * 0.2 = $906 per month * 6 monthly checks. The semester salary is $5,436.


The Rank 3 base salary is $5,405. Teaching 3 units equates to a 0.20 timebase (3/15). $5,405 * 0.2 = $1,081 per month * 6 monthly checks. The semester salary is $6,486.


Qualifications:


1. To teach within the bachelor's degree Program a bachelor's degree required; Master's Degree preferred in Recreation, Tourism Management, Hospitality Management, Recreational Sport Management or closely related or allied field of study.


2. To teach within the Master's Degree Program a Master's Degree is required in Recreation, Hospitality Management, Tourism Management, Recreational Sport Management or closely related field; Ph.D. degree preferred in Recreation, Tourism Management, Hospitality Management, Recreational Sport Management or related or allied field of study; or a Bachelor's Degree with previous effective graduate-level teaching performance and at least 15 years of professional experience in Tourism Management, Hospitality Management or Recreation Management.


3. Breadth of professional experience in recreation/leisure services in course area(s) to be taught.


4. Evidence of experience that would indicate knowledge of recreation and human services agencies.


5. Evidence of effective teaching experience at a college or university, preferably in the subject to be taught.


6. Applicants without previous teaching experience must submit three (3) letters of recommendation addressing reasons to expect effective teaching.


7. Demonstrated commitment and ability to teach a diverse student population and work effectively with a diverse community of faculty and staff.


8. Record of academic preparation and research relevant to course areas(s) to be taught.


9. Knowledge of assessment of student learning outcomes.


10. Individuals interested in teaching outdoor recreation courses must have specific expertise in outdoor recreation skill and knowledge related to class. Courses that may be deployed in backcountry types of outdoor recreation where access to EMS is limited/non-existent must hold current certification in Wilderness Advanced First Aid (WAFA) or Wilderness First Responder (WFR) or obtain prior to instruction.
