Position Summary:

The Pathway Advisor will support students in all aspects of their assigned pathway. The Pathway Advisor will ensure that assigned students receive academic advising, as well as work on collaborative efforts with staff of the Academic Affairs Division in accordance with established goals and objectives of the academic deans and faculty in their assigned pathways. Pathway Advisors assist with enrollment, course selection, registration, internship selection, procedures for transfer institutions, and providing support and resources for personal and academic needs of students. Pathway Advisors support other events designed to motivate students to enroll, persist, transfer and graduate. They will also utilize the CRM, Student Planning, and other appropriate tools to keep record of student interactions and progress towards the students' goals.


Reporting and Supervisory Relationships:

This position reports to the Manager, Academic Advising


Essential Responsibilities:



  1. Serve as a primary point of support and contact for assigned students. As well as provide information and services to prospective and current students.

  2. Provide basic financial aid referrals and assistance to help assigned students achieve their educational and personal goals and offset the cost of college attendance.

  3. Provide academic advising services to students through structured individual and group meetings.

  4. Develop a working knowledge of College policies, procedures, academic programs and services.

  5. Provide professional support and assistance of college-wide activities related to student academic advising, admissions, campus tours, data reporting, financial aid, graduation, grants, information sessions, open house, orientation, recruitment, registration, program coordinator meetings, retention, testing, and overall navigation through college.

  6. Support and participate in both classroom and internship/externship of assigned pathway students in an effort to enhance their development and learning experiences.

  7. Conduct appropriate referrals for students as needed.

  8. Assist with program review and student retention efforts such as surveys, focus groups, orientation sessions, outreach campaigns, and workshops.

  9. Build and maintain positive working relationships with PSC administrators, faculty, parents/guardians, and students to support student success.

  10. Performs other duties as assigned consistent with the role and required functions of this position.


Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

The employee typically works indoors in an environment protected from the weather. Moderate travel may be required. Physical activities include the ability to carry appropriate recruitment materials sometimes weighing up to 40 pounds.


Minimum Qualifications:



  1. Bachelor's degree.

  2. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills with solid proficiency with computer software.

  3. Demonstrated sensitivity and experience with students from low-income, disadvantaged educational backgrounds.

  4. Demonstrated ability to assist students in a culturally diverse environment.

  5. Advising or counseling experience in a college setting.

  6. FAFSA knowledge and experience in financial aid and financial literacy.

  7. Working knowledge along with comfort level in assisting students with college and university admissions, transfer policies, and financial assistance processes.

  8. Proven commitment to student success.

  9. Ability to work in teams

  10. Ability to maintain confidentiality.









Preferred Qualifications:



  1. Graduate degree in counseling or a related field.

  2. Two years of experience working in higher education.

  3. Experience working with guided pathways.

  4. Experience working in a community college.

  5. Working knowledge of Federal Financial Aid.

  6. Experience working in a culturally diverse setting.

  7. Experience with Colleague.


Anticipated Work Hours and Days:

Monday through Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm; one to two days per week 10:30am - 7pm. Required overtime and flexible scheduling during peak registration times. Evening and weekend availability is required.


Salary:

minimum starting-$39,953; salary commensurate with experience
