POSITION: Development Services Database Specialist DEPARTMENT: Development



REPORTS TO: Senior Director of Development Services DATE: January 2023



POSITION SUMMARY:


Reporting to the Sr. Director of Development Services, the Development Services Database Specialist will support the development and events teams by managing and fulfilling data and mail file requests in "Atlas", a Blackbaud CRM database, for all development functions including those related to major gifts, annual and alumni giving, events and other hospital and department needs as they arise. This person will serve as an integral part of the Development Services team, working with the Senior Director and other team members to ensure that data requests are generated accurately and produced in a timely manner and helping to support all development services activities on an as needed basis.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:




  • Creates complex queries, and export files using Atlas CRM. Satisfies other ad hoc requests from department staff and external departments. Responsible for generating mail and email files for the Philanthropy Report, E-newsletters, event invitations and other email marketing efforts.

  • Works in conjunction with the direct mail partner and Senior Director of Strategy and Communications on direct marketing efforts, including segmentation, file creation and appeal/package coding. Works closely with direct marketing vendor to assure all bi-directional data is accurate and securely transferred.

  • Support stewardship and gift processing in maintaining and fulfilling templated acknowledgement letters for all gifts.

  • Assists with data management and integrity including, merging and deleting records, updating constituent information and creating new records.




  • Assists with gift processing during peak periods and as needed. Assists with batch proofing, checking to ensure that data received from outside vendors is accurate and formatted for gift processing import/batch.

  • Provides back up support in different capacities to other members of the development staff, as needed: general office support, filing, and telephone duties.





  • Qualifications

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE



    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.


    • Two to four years of experience designing, developing, and generating queries from a relational database application. Experience using Blackbaud products a plus.


    • Fundraising experience is preferred.


    • Enjoys working with data and analytics. Proficient using excel, word, and mail merge including conditional logic.


    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.


    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skill


    • Excellent writing and oral communication skills


    • Strong ability to prioritize tasks


    • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, flexibility, solutions-oriented and strong sense of responsibility are requirements of this position.
