Role Description:

Arcadis is seeking a Estimator responsible for providing and /or supervising the provision of cost estimates for a variety of projects in North America.

Candidate should have a knowledge of project controls (cost and schedule management) methods for construction, and commissioning & validation methods. Program lead estimator will utilize their skills in developing cost estimates for civil, structural, architectural, electrical, and mechanical facilities.

Future role involves providing and /or supervising the provision of cost estimates for construction projects in North America and helping provide growth for Places North America.

Role accountabilities:

• Prepare and/or coordinate the preparation of estimates and reports as requested by the Project Manager and/or client. Includes the collection of necessary cost data for conceptual and/or take-off estimating
• Prepare estimating procedures and overall estimating review and justification
• Responsible for the collection of data and other information needed for the preparation of estimates
• Responsible for site reviews, detail estimating and direct interface with the client when necessary for preparation of estimates
• Assist in the maintenance of past estimates and cost data for use in future estimating
• Calculate, extend and summarize estimating data as required
• Follow established procedures to undertake basic financial tasks, such as identifying variances between planned and incurred costs
• Notify more-senior colleagues of any discrepancies to ensure management has access to up-to-date and accurate information to aid their decision making
• Contribute to a range of cost management assignments by undertaking practical tasks, and work with senior specialists to ensure programs of work are undertaken and project milestones are met
• Understand and comply with risk and compliance principles, taking standard corrective action or reporting unsafe or inappropriate situations to ensure the delivery of cost management assignments is not adversely impacted
• Collect data and help to prepare supporting documentation, such as schedules, feasibility studies and cost reports, to ensure senior management have quality information to facilitate their decision making
• Monitor cost and commercial management processes, share knowledge, and provide feedback on existing procedures to identify opportunities for the improvement of processes and systems
• Apply practical methods and expertise to solve problems raised by colleagues in a timely and accurate manner to effectively support the cost and commercial management function
• Provide advice on simple cost management queries to internal or external stakeholders, escalating more-complex matters to senior colleagues when required, ensuring an efficient and high-quality provision of information

Key Skills & Attributes:

• Practical knowledge of specialized field, including of construction processes and cost and commercial management
• Good communication skills and ability to liaise with peers and immediate seniors
• Commercial awareness and a developing organizational understanding
• A logical approach and ability to prioritize tasks
• Ability to manage own time in accordance with a broad schedule
• Proficiency with desktop applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Proficiency using common and straightforward cost and commercial management software and systems
• Must have strong aptitude with numbers and the ability to draw conclusions from numbers/data
• Able to prepare quantity take-offs and read architect's plans

Qualifications & Experience:


  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in preparing detailed MEP, civil, structural, or architectural construction cost estimates.

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $69,000 - $83,000.
