Main Objective:

The Travel Manager is responsible for the quality driven and efficient management of the Arthrex travel program for employees and guests of the Americas. Directly manage a team of Travel Specialists

tasked with the successful execution of the planning, scheduling and coordinating airline, hotel, car rental, and other reservations for corporate travelers utilizing a GDS (reservations system). Serving as a leader of the department, ensure policies are followed, provide timely feedback, lead and/or participate in special projects, and take on additional responsibility as demand for services increase.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Execute Senior Leadership endorsed strategy for Travel Program including recommendations and management of travel supplier relationships.

  • Directly supervise staff, including scheduling to ensure adequate program coverage, periodic performance reviews, identify training needs for the team and motivate high performers.

  • Actively seek opportunities to address and remedy low performers and work closely with HR & management when additional disciplinary action is required.

  • Responsible for setting the tone and demeanor of the department, always providing a professional and hospitality oriented approach.

  • Responsible for ensuring the successful completion of travel arrangements within Arthrex as well as AdvaMed guidelines, meeting the standards of excellent customer service.

  • Act in empowered capacity for traveler escalations and travel policy exceptions.

  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of international pricing rules and procedures.

  • Operates within general procedures with supervised results and under minimal direct supervision.
    Interacts with traveler, travel arranger, and Suppliers.

  • Presents on behalf of department and program to internal and external parties as required.

  • Ensures staff adhere to Arthrex standards in delivering customer service including telephone/email etiquette and follows prescribed customer service escalation procedures.

  • Attends staff and training meetings for ongoing updates in the travel industry and office procedures.

  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate.

  • Participates in the continuation of the development of the global service model.

  • Assumes and performs other duties and responsibilities not specifically outlined herein, but which are logically and properly inherent to the position.

  • Work with management to set established office goals for measurable accuracy, work with team to ensure goals are met or exceeded.

  • Ensure compliance within functional area and support the compliance objectives of the organization as a whole

Education and Experience:


  • High School diploma or equivalent required

  • College degree preferred

  • 5 years working in a Corporate Travel Agent role

  • 5 years GDS experience (Sabre preferred)

  • Leadership experience in a travel role required

  • Strong international skills

  • Corporate Onsite Travel Office background

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:


  • Strong customer service and organizational skills; detail oriented

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects; anticipate needs

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Willing and available to work extended hours as needed

  • Ability to work independently and meet set deadlines

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

PCs, MS Office Suite, SharePoint, GDS, Concur Travel and Expense, Chrome River, and other software.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
