Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Data Engineer in Washington, DC.
Responsibilities:
Senior Data Engineer will collaborate closely with data scientists, software engineers, and other stakeholders to develop and implement data-driven solutions that transform transportation systems
Architect and build scalable and efficient data pipelines and ETL processes to collect, process, and store large volumes of data, playing a crucial role in laying out the processes and foundations of our Data Engineering initiatives
Optimize database structures and data models for performance and scalability
Ensure data quality and integrity by implementing data validation and cleansing techniques
Establishing policies, processes, and controls in data governance to ensure the integrity, quality, and security of data assets in a way that achieves regulatory compliance
Work with cloud computing infrastructure to adequately scale data pipelines while actively maintaining cost efficiency and speed
Research and evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and frameworks to enhance data engineering processes
Adapt quickly to changing requirements and priorities in a startup environment
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth within the team
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align engineering efforts with product and business objectives
Drive innovation and brainstorming sessions to tackle transportation engineering challenges and develop cutting-edge solutions
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
7+ years of experience in data engineering, preferably in a startup or fast-paced environment, with prior leadership roles
Experience with cloud-based data platforms such as Snowflake and AWS
Experience working with DBMSs such as PostgreSQL and MySQL
Knowledge of data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL processes
Understanding of data visualization concepts and tools
Familiarity with extracting, analyzing, and mapping geospatial data and GIS systems
Familiarity with distributed systems and big data technologies such as Apache Spark
Strong proficiency in SQL (for DDL operations, DML operations, data architecture, etc.)
Strong proficiency in Python and Jupyter (for exploratory data analysis, writing scripts, aggregating datasets, working with data scientists/GIS developers, etc.)
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
