Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY: The Imaging Technologist is responsible for performing imaging procedures to assist in the diagnosis of disease.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
Reviews images in PAC system.Identifies abnormalities.Assists Radiologist in interpretation of patient exams.Performs imaging procedures as prescribed by a physician including: positions the patients for the proper view of the affected area; selects the appropriate scan images to be transferred to a PACS system.Obtains essential information from patient, medical records and previous scans for clinical correlation; instructs patients about the proper physiological requirements for the procedure; helps patients transfer to exam table and ensures adequate patient immobilization to perform the scan; changes scanning parameters to improve a scan; obtains diagnostic images by scanning the appropriate body part of the patient; submits diagnostic exam to physician for interpretation.Assists in performing life-saving techniques (CPR, first aid) to the patient if necessary.Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination. Handles blood and body fluids and deals with infectious patients.Performs patient care tasks as needed.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE and REGISTRATION:
High school diploma; graduation from an accredited Radiography school.ARRT registered in at least 2 modalities; or registry eligible.Current Radiologic Technology License (RTL) in good standing.BLS certification

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Minimum one year of experience and/or trainingSkilled in injecting contrast intravenously for imaging procedures.Skilled in using computer network system competently to process patient and department information.Knowledgeable and skilled in assuming responsibility for safety factors.Ability to explain procedures clearly and simply to patients.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must interact and communicate both verbally and in written form.Must interact and exchange information regarding patients with physicians and other departmental personnel, and outside agencies on a frequent basis while respecting the confidentiality of patient information.
