Job Summary

Career and Technical Education (CTE) Coordinator will work in the College and Career Readiness Center under the CCR Center Manager. Incumbent will work with students 6th grade and older who communicate interest in post-secondary direct to career or post-secondary vocational training. CTE Advisor will work with a caseload of students to set student goals through an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and co-create goals to ensure students take all steps and complete all prerequisite work necessary to progress to their career or vocational training institution. CTE Coordinator will provide intensive one-on-one advising with each student enrolled. CTE Advisor will establish and maintain relationship with internal and external partners to assist in student goal achievement and will be familiar and skilled in areas such as Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) placement testing vocational institutions admission requirements dual credit opportunities early/middle college opportunities.

Essential Functions
Establishes a caseload of students who want to pursue a career or technical education trainingSets Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound (S.M.A.R.T.) goals for students through an Individual Learning Plan (ILP)Establishes and maintains internal and external partnerships relative to student goalsWorks with students in middle school to provide career exploration in vocational careersWorks with students in high school to provide a clear picture of prerequisites for chosen career or technical education trainingContinues working with students post-secondary as they grow in their careers or continue their technical education training programsProvides tools for students to overcome barriersConducts workshops in related areas as necessaryEnsures compliance with Tribal, federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, Tribal policies, and TERO ordinance

Working Conditions

Lifting Requirements: Sedentary work Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science in Education or other relevant field, or a combination of education and experience in a related field may be substituted for a degree.

Experience: Three (3) years of experience.

License/Certification/Requirements: Must have a valid Alaska State drivers license and must remain insurable under the Tribes policy. Pediatric/Adult CPR and First Aid Certification or obtain within 90 days of hire.

Preferred: Knowledge and experience with scholarship application, FAFSA, vocational institution admission process, dual credit, academic advising, and local educational opportunities. Knowledge about teacher preparation programs. Knowledge and experience working with culturally diverse populations.

Special Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Suite or obtain training within 90 days of hire. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Conducts business in a service-oriented manner that is attentive, pleasant, respectful, and kind when dealing with unina students, visitors, co-workers, and others.
