Staff Accountant at CORODATA CORPORATION

Job Description:

$27.77 - $34.09 / hr

Reporting to the Accounting Manager and Controller, the Staff Accountant is responsible for creating timely and accurate financial statements, preparing bank reconciliations, and completing financial projects and reports. Primary job functions require exceptional customer focus while exercising independent judgment. This position is also responsible for reporting and escalating any issues to their manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Accounting Duties:


  • Prepare month end journal entries for multiple companies, including but not limited to prepaid expenses, bad debts, and property taxes.

  • Ensure the accuracy of all balance sheet accounts for multiple companies by preparing schedules detailing what is in the accounts and tying them to sub-ledgers each month before the end of the current calendar month.

  • Review all income statement accounts for accuracy and reasonableness based on account history, insuring corrections are made as necessary.

  • Prepare monthly reporting packages including but not limited to operations reports, sales reports, and days sales outstanding. Help with collection efforts.

  • On a daily basis, post all bank transactions and investigate transactions for which documentation was not received.

  • Reconcile all bank accounts for multiple companies by the fifth business day of each month.

  • Provide backup billing and other departments as necessary.

  • Participate in process improvement projects as required.

  • Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, suppliers, and others in a courteous and professional manner.

  • Complete discretion is required, as this position will have access to financial statements, payroll information, and other confidential information.

  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.

  • Conform to all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment.

  • Other Duties may be assigned to meet business needs. Some overtime may be required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Required:

·         AA degree in Accounting or a combination of education and equivalent experience.

·         Minimum of 1 year of experience in an Accounting function

·         Proficient MS Excel knowledge.

·         Proficient in MS Office applications.

·         Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

·         Valid California driver’s license and driving record that meets the company’s insurance carrier requirements

Preferred:

·         Familiarity with Great Plains software

·         Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with associates.

·         Experience with process improvement teams.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

1.    This is a full-time, exempt position.

2.    Employees may be required to work late evenings or weekends depending on the business needs.

3.    Because of sales and accounting interactions, the work needs to be conducted in the office location of 12375 Kerran Street, Poway, CA 92064.
