Job Description:

This position will provide administrative and logistical support for the proposed OU Water Institute (OUWI), which will serve as the administrative hub to coordinate water research, education, and outreach efforts for CEES and will also coordinate those efforts with other campus entities. This position will serve as the administrative head of the OUWI and will be responsible for day-to-day execution of the vision defined by the OUWI Executive Board. 


Job Duties:



  • Responsible for program administration, in addition to monitoring projects, program evaluations, budgets, tracking of goals, and developing long-range plans. 

  • Works with OUWI Executive Board to develop an overarching vision and strategy for programs

  • Establishes operational and strategic unit goals

  • Develops, implements, and interprets policies and practices of the program

  • Explores and creates new program opportunities

  • Coordinates with internal and external constituents and campus staff to foster program growth

  • Serves on various committees and represents the program to the public and client groups

  • Works with GCoE Development team to help raise private funds for the institute

  • Supervises staff helping with the institute

  • Helps with administration of online programming

  • Performs related duties as assigned to successfully fulfill the function of the position

Required Education: Master's Degree AND



  • 24 months related experience.



Equivalency/Substitution:  Will accept 72 months experience in lieu of the Master's degree for a total of 96 months related experience.

  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information

  • Ability to build rapport with students, faculty, and staff

  • Ability to supervise staff and communicate directions and expectations effectively

  • Ability to produce reports and complete work within deadlines

  • Strong initiative to solve problems in a timely manner


Certifications or Licenses: Valid driver's license required for travel


Departmental Preferences: 



  • PhD degree

  • STEM background in water-related fields

  • Experience in an academic workplace

  • Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods

  • Ability to engage in repetitive motions

  • Ability to grasp objects with fingers or hands

  • Ability to communicate; including expressing oneself or exchanging information with others; eyesight, including color, depth perception and clarity


Travel: Occasional local, regional, and national travel.  Approximately 15% of time.


Supervision: 



  • Up to 2-3 staff, including laboratory/field technicians and clerical/financial staff.
