Kendal at Oberlin's Facility Services Department is currently seeking a positive, enthusiastic leader for the position of Grounds Manager. The Grounds Manager will supervise and schedule the daily operations of the Grounds staff. Working in coordination with the Grounds Horticulturist to plan maintenance of trees, shrubs, perennials, plant beds and arboretum work. More specifically, the Grounds Manager will be have responsibilities that include but are not limited to:
Planning and directing grounds maintenance including seasonal snow removal, turf care, walkways, roadways, paths, gutters, siding, ponds, and wetlands.
Operating and maintaining power equipment essential to mowing, fertilizing, snow removal, and other related tasks.
Maintaining calendar to ensure work schedules, project deadlines, and appointments are recorded and not overlooked or late.
Writing specifications, purchase orders, and coordinating work schedules.
Assuring all staff are operating equipment and vehicles safely, and inspecting/observing work areas daily for safe work practices and accident prevention.
Complying with OSHA safety standards in all areas of work.
Ensuring completion of inspections outlined in the Life Safety Record.
Qualifications and Experience:
Must have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in supervision and strong knowledge of grounds work and related equipment.
Must have strong plant and turf knowledge.
Must have strong knowledge of purchasing, inventory, scheduling, and budget development with excellent computer ability required.
Must possess technical training and or certifications in landscape maintenance or related field.
Must possess Ohio pesticide applicators license or obtain in first year of employment.
Must be physically able to walk, climb, bend, push, stoop, pull, crawl, lift, and carry weights up to 50 pounds, drive, etc. with no more than minor correctable deficiencies in sight and hearing.
Capable of working with people of all ages and races.
