JOB TITLE/LOCATION:



Inspector – Baldwin Park, CA



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:



  • Support Quality Manager with managing and maintaining customer, interdivisional companies, and supplier expectations and requirements

  • Interprets blueprints, sketches, process sheets, engineering specifications and standards to perform first article and in process dimensional visual checking of manufactured parts at various stages to assure conformance to standard.

  • Sets up and uses standard and special gages and/or related precision measuring devices to check parts and assemblies for conformance to specifications. Utilizes reference handbooks used by inspection and manufacturing to figure angle function involving trigonometry in setting up gages. Recognizes faulty gauging techniques and corrects. Utilizes shop math in all dimensional checking as well as precision measuring devices.

  • Checks parts visually for burrs, finish, and any related defects that would be cause for the rejection of parts.

  • Verifies all gauging prior to completing dimensional checks on parts in process or from vendors.

  • Inspects materials received from vendors for conformance to specification, cleanliness, structure and hardenability. This includes using an XRF Analyzer to validate chemical composition of materials received.

  • Inspects returned goods to verify if the cause, failure, or rejection is as stated by customer. Fills out the required charts, forms and reports.

  • Will be required to work with manufacturing and engineering personnel on new product inspection processes where no previous standard exists

  • May have to perform calibration on gages needed for production

  • May have to visit suppliers to support supplier audits and/or to determine root cause and corrective action(s) on issues

  • May have to lead MRB activities, including initiating, completing, and/or following up on any actions resulting from MRB activities.

EDUCATION:



  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)


EXPERIENCE:



  • 0-3 years performing inspection of assemblies (e.g. routine process inspections)


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:



  • Competence to read and interpret documents such as safety policies, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

  • Ability to effectively speak before individuals and groups of employees within the organization

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions

  • Basic knowledge of AS9100 requirements

  • Experience interpreting & inspecting GD&T features (preferred)

  • Experience working in an aerospace company, specifically working with bearings or fasteners (preferred)

  • Experience working with a CMM, specifically ZEISS machines or Calypso software (preferred)

  • Ability to interact and communicate with customers and 3rd Party auditors as required (preferred)

Please note that the salary range information is only applicable for California. The pay range represents the low and high end of the salary range we reasonably expect to pay for this position at the time of posting. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, education, skills, qualifications, performance, and business or organizational needs.
Salary Range: $20-25 hourly. Relocation assistance not available and we are only considering local candidates.
