Job Description:

The Quality Leader is responsible for maintaining quality standards by inspecting incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products, and recording the results. The incumbent will properly document inspection results in reports and log and analyze data to identify trends, staying abreast of industry best practices and looking for continuous improvement opportunities. The Quality Leader will maintain measurement and testing equipment and help to resolve issues. The incumbent will collaborate with plant management regarding quality issues and present inspection results when needed.

Key Responsibilities 


  • Verifies inspections; collects, records, and stores quality inspection results. Performs equipment calibration.

  • Monitors and measures equipment to ensure continuous suitable and effective calibration.

  • Validates and trains new operators on process controls and Visual Quality System (VQS).

  • Stops or holds production as necessary to rectify quality errors.

  • Interacts with quality and operational leadership at the site level.

  • Supports investigations of internal/external defects, raw materials, and customer returns.

  • Evaluates quality data to ensure valid results consistent with manufacturing specifications (VQS) Overall responsibility for final release of products.

  • Participates in and supports Gemba walks.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience 

  • Typically possesses a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 1-2 years of relevant experience

Knowledge and Skills 


  • Possesses some experience utilizing common lab equipment for quality control testing (e.g., scales, electronic instruments, calipers, micrometers, etc.)

  • Possesses a basic understanding of metrology.

  • Demonstrates ability to understand and interpret data.

  • Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

  • Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Possesses advanced knowledge of manufacturing processes.

  • Familiar with various industrial product substrates including steel and plastic drums and intermediate bulk containers.

  • Works effectively as a member of a team.
