We are seeking a full-time IT Network Engineer Intern in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for learning and training to become a Network & Telecommunications Engineer including managing technology through the use of tools and scripting, including learning about the organization, leadership and coordination with cross functional IT teams to ensure components of overall system are managed.
Essential Functions
Learn to design/develop complex, integrated solutions to meet business requirements or enhance performance of Garmin's network and telecommunications systems
Learn to perform/evaluate cost analyses and vendor comparisons for projects to ensure cost effective/efficient operations
Learn to measure feasibility of various approaches and make recommendations
Gain understanding of capacity avoidance, redundancy, and health constraints of network & telecommunications systems
Learn about SOX, PCI, and other regulatory or security requirements and partner with a mentor or leader to ensure adherence
Learn about the use of tools and scripting to effectively manage technology
Gain understanding of interdependencies in system and application components and learn how to apply that knowledge in system design and maintenance
Learn effective problem-solving techniques, root cause analysis, identification, and implementation of corrective action for given problems
May participate in planning and implementation of minor version upgrades
Learn about 24X7 on call support and may participate in responding to network and system related questions
Participate in organization and learn about leading meetings with users of IT systems
May provide support to helpdesk on escalated problems and issues
Basic Qualifications
Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or equivalent experience
Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
Demonstrated strong and effective verbal and written communication skills
Relevant experience and/or training
Other education and/or experiences as required for the specific projects being developed
Desired Qualifications
Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
Previous experience working in a team environment
