Under general direction, the Maintenance Technician performs work to support the performance of building, grounds, machine and tool maintenance to include the primary fields of electrical; heating, ventilation, carpentry, plumbing, machining, mechanical equipment installation, troubleshooting and repair; and repairing cranes, hydraulics, and welding machines.

  • Conducts himself/herself in a considerate, professional, cooperative and helpful manner toward fellow employees, customers, vendors and visitors.

  • Follows all safety policies and company-wide safety requirements; encourages action assuring safe behavior; confronts unsafe behavior and conditions proactively and positively.

  • Complies with all company policies and procedures.

  • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications, to include troubleshooting malfunctions.

  • Correctly applies methods, practices, and procedures in preventative maintenance, inspection, repair, and minor construction of buildings and utilities.

  • Troubleshoots incoming problems and resolves; communicates with Team Leader or Team Manager that require assistance.

  • Uses proper Lock-Out Tag-Out processes and procedures.

  • Notifies management and/or the HS&E specialist of any safety risks or repairs that may be required.

  • Provides needed material(s) to various workstations and/or locations.

  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.

  • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.

  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.

  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level, to include anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies.

  • Keeps workplace organized as work is performed and ensures that the workplace is returned to its original condition once work has been completed.

  • Follows direction or instruction and asks questions for clarification as needed.

  • Assists Lead or Supervisor with various tasks as needed.

  • Cross-trains in other areas/departments as needed.

  • Assists Team Leader or Manager with training of new employees.




What you know:



You have a High School or GED equivalent required. Candidates interested in company-sponsored GED program will be considered. You will have a respectful approach to working with others and prior experience with:
  • Prior maintenance experience with basic math skills and ability to read a tape measure.

  • Knowledge of Hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical troubleshooting preferred.

  • Electrical or mechanical technician experience or education preferred.

  • Forklift and scissor lift operation experience preferred.

  • Overhead crane experience preferred.

  • Overtime is required as needed.

  • Occasional minimal travel (< 10%) may be required.




Physical & Environmental Factors:



Physical Requirements (lifting, climbing, standing, equipment and/or motor vehicle use). Lifting raw materials, assemblies, and equipment using lifts, or manually up to 50 lbs. Stands or walks majority of workday. Required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment. Environmental Factors (hazardous materials, work location, work surfaces, exposure):
