Job Description:

This is a full-time internship position for our Summer rotation, from May 20, 2024 through August 16, 2024 in Santa Monica, CA with the possibility to extend.

The Automotive Design Intern will assist the Automotive Design team with creating pitches and design proposals for BMW Group brands and 3rd party clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Automotive Design team with design proposals for BMW Group brands


• Support all other DesignWorks teams with pitch work to create new business opportunities


• Support the visualization team in creating internal and external presentations

The hourly rate for Undergraduate students is $25.30.
The hourly rate for Graduate students is $32.20.

The selected student's academic level will be used to determine the final pay rate. This statement is in accordance with state and local pay disclosure requirements.

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor or master's degree program at an accredited college or university


• Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major)


• Have completed at least 30 college credit hours at time of application


• Field of study: Transportation Design, Automotive Design, or Industrial Design


• Must attach a copy of college unofficial transcript


• Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week)


• Prior BMW Group experience (applicable to international J1 students only)


• Strong 2D and 3D visual communication skills (sketching, rendering, modeling etc.)


• Knowledge of 3D modelling and rendering software (Blender, Keyshot, etc.)


• Experience with AI tools (Stable Diffusion, Midjourney, Runway, etc.)
