Position Summary:
This position will primarily support the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) program at the Aliso Viejo site in addition to lending support when needed across the network at other sites. Expect to provide overall SME, technical, maintain good standings with external agencies & regulatory guidance and be supportive of the EHS I & EHS II team members.
Responsibilities:
• Provide technical guidance in the areas of occupational safety for site and laboratory personnel to identify safety hazards, evaluate processes to prevent and control risk in the work areas. Develop and present recommendations as needed for corrective action, and execute approved actions. Coordinate the Annual Chemical Sweep and ensure our SDS database is up to date; respond to laboratory service requests related to supporting safety and compliance.• Oversee the training program to ensure content is relevant, current, and applicable to correct groups. Monitor training programs to ensure adequate and important trainings are developed and assigned.• Tabulate EHS metrics related to Safety Incidences, ergonomic issues, and any others that would provide relevant information and perform incident trend analysis. Develop a trend analysis of which types of safety incidences occur most often and why, develop a process to address.• Manage EHS projects needed for developing a successful and robust EHS program.
Experience & Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors Dree required in EHS, Science or Occupational Health preferred.
At least 5 years of experience working in an EHS related role in a laboratory/hospital setting involving industrial hygiene, involving hazardous materials/hazardous waste, participating with internal/external inspections, environmental/laboratory risk assessments, decontamination, ergonomics, emergency management program in a laboratory environment.
Current working regulatory knowledge of applicable government and safety regulations provided by OSHA, RCRA/Non-RCRA, NFPA, EPA, NIOSH, ASHRAE, or ANSI.
Compliance experience with CA (Orange County Healthcare Agency, SCAQMD - Air Quality Control Agency, Fire Authority, Cal-EPA and other CUPAs, state (DTSC, TCEQ), and federal EHS regulations (Cal-OSHA, Cal-EPA)
Proven project and program management skills, working independently and with groups
Must exhibit versatility between ability to work in a team environment and work independently as required.
