Position Introduction


The Department of Biology at Vassar College invites applications for full-time, one year visiting assistant professors who can teach courses in both introductory biology and ecology. Two positions are available.

Position Description


The Department of Biology at Vassar College invites applications for two full-time, one-year visiting assistant professors who can teach courses in both introductory biology and ecology. The position carries a teaching load of 3 units in one semester and 2 units in the other (Ecology and Introductory Biology in the Fall semester of 2024 and Introductory Biology and an upper level seminar class in the Spring semester of 2025). Aspects of the Ecology and introductory Biology courses are standardized and already designed. The topic and design of the upper level seminar course will be determined by the instructor's area of expertise, in consultation with the Chair of Biology. The Vassar campus includes an ecological preserve where outdoor lab exercises can be developed. Experience teaching at the college level is preferred and a Ph.D. in a biological science is required at time of appointment.







Salary Wage Range


Pay Transparency Disclosure: The annual base starting salary range for this full-time visiting position is $84,000 to $88,000 (USD). When extending an offer of employment, Vassar College considers factors such as (but not limited to) candidate’s education/training, work experience, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations. This salary range represents the College’s good faith and reasonable estimate at the time of posting.
