SUMMARY


The Surgical Technology FT Faculty provides administrative leadership for surgical technology programs as the program director and will provide high quality instruction. This position is responsible for planning, budgeting, maintaining appropriate policies, procedures and assisting with program evaluation, accreditations, licensures, and representing programs to external partners and accrediting agencies. The Surgical Technology FT Faculty supports the College's mission, vision and values and fosters a cooperative relationship with faculty, staff, students, and the community. This position requires a commitment to diversity, excellence, student engagement and success.

Essential Functions



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following: · Provide the leadership needed to procure and allocate resources to achieve the program's expected outcomes.· Provides leadership of the organization, administration, periodic review and evaluation, continued development, and effectiveness of program curricula.· Mentors' adjunct faculty.· In conjunction with Department Chairs, represents health professions programs at the College administrative level.· Assists in Department budget planning process to efficiently utilize the college's financial resources and foster creativity and new ideas within the departments.· Represents the departments at the community, state and national levels through contacts and relationships with clinical affiliates, business, industry, government, associations, education, and advisory committees.· Collaborates with the Department Chair to help with strategic planning, program development, curriculum development, program review, accreditation, and budget preparation.· In conjunction with the Department Chair, develops operational/strategic plans relative to program evaluation, improvement, and growth.· Collaborates with Department Chair to manage student concerns, issues, or complaints.· Oversees internal and external accreditation and program review processes.· Assists with the recruitment and evaluation of clinical affiliates.· Oversees recruitment and review of clinical education centers Manages the clinical affiliation agreement process.· Participates in student recruitment, advisement, and retention by working with student services, marketing and others, and works with students as necessary and appropriate.· Works in partnership with Department Chair to assure adequate staffing for all courses and clinical assignments.· Functions as a liaison to other departments across the campus and works with them to obtain services and resources for health professions programs.· Aids with the student admissions based on established processes and recommends on-going revisions to the admission process as needed.· In conjunction with faculty, develops and implements standards and policies governing students and program issues.· Oversees ensuring all program documents (e.g. catalog, guide sheets, admission information, handbooks and web site) are current and accurate.· Responsible for understanding, supporting and actively demonstrating the College's beliefs, values, mission and vision and agreeing to be evaluated by same.· Responsible for understanding that this position has been identified as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) position. You must complete the annual Clery Act training, for and act as, a Campus Security Authority.· Facilitate Learner Development and Socialization· Use Assessment and Evaluation Strategies· Participate in Curriculum Design and Evaluation of Program Outcomes

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience· Be a graduate of an education program in surgical technology accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency; and· Possess a bachelor's degree and a credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA); and· Have a minimum total of five years (5) of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past ten years· Documentation of experience and a certificate/degree in online teaching and learning or completion of a certificate in online teaching and learning within one (1) year of hire.



CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
· Certified Surgical Technologists (CST)· Documentation of a certificate in online teaching and learning or completion of a certificate in online teaching and learning within one (1) year of hire

Ability to multi-task, prioritize assignments and manage complexity under deadlines. Ability to work well in a fast-paced and fluid environment. Must be able to supervise, direct and delegate duties and provide leadership for support and instructional staff.


Computer SkillsWorking knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office applications.


Language SkillsAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Effectively present information and respond to questions from the faculty, staff, students and the general public.


Mathematical SkillsAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


Reasoning AbilityAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
