Job Description:





***This position is eligible for up to two days remote work per week.





BASIC FUNCTION:




The Director of the Project Management Office will play a crucial role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the PMO and optimizing project management processes. This position reports directly to the Chief Information Officer and requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a proven track record in successfully managing complex projects. In addition, this role will collaborate with various departments to ensure project goals align with the university's overall objectives.





ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:





  • Develop and implement project management strategies aligned with the university's vision and goals.

  • Provide leadership in the planning, execution, and completion of projects across various departments.

  • Oversee the development of project plans, timelines, and budgets and monitor project progress addressing any issues to ensure successful and timely completion.

  • Lead and mentor the project management team to ensure high performance and professional growth, foster a collaborative and innovative culture within the PMO.

  • Work closely with leadership, other IT staff, functional leads, and other users to understand their project needs and align them with university priorities.

  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.

  • Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with projects to minimize disruptions, implement risk management strategies to maintain project integrity.

  • Evaluate and enhance project management processes and methodologies,

  • implement best practices to increase efficiency and effectiveness within the PMO.





OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:





  • Provide project status updates to all stakeholders and ensure the information is current and accurate so everyone will have access to the information in a timely manner.

  • Participate in all efforts of the Office of Information Technologies to enhance the overall management and transparency of projects across the University.

  • Perform such other related duties that may be assigned.

Requirements:





MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:





  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Science, Business Administration or a related field is required.

  • Minimum of five years of proven experience in project management in an information technology environment.

  • Minimum of two years of management/supervisory experience or relevant professional experience demonstrating leadership and management abilities.

  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and tools, such as Microsoft Project or another PM-specific tool, are critical.

  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with various levels of the organization at both the technical and non-technical level to provide project leadership and guidance.

  • Experience working with and management of multiple teams to deliver new services in a dynamic environment.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Detail oriented

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills at technical and non-technical levels.

  • Ability to provide exemplary service to our end-users and proactively seek opportunities for service improvement

  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude towards providing customer service and building relationships with users

  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks with the ability to follow each to resolution

  • Ability to work effectively as a team member or independently as appropriate

  • Ability to collaborate with administrative users and Information Technologies staff members

  • Ability to provide reliable and dependable service during critical times of the University calendar





PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:





  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Science, Software Engineering or related field is preferred.

  • More than five years of proven experience in project management in an educational or similar environment.

  • More than two years of management/supervisory experience.

  • Relevant certifications in project management (such as a PMP certification) are advantageous.
