JOB
SUMMARY:

Under
the general direction of the Wastewater Operations Superintendent, the Water Quality
Supervisor is distinguished by their responsibility for managing and administering
the Company's water quality program and acts as a technical expert in the field
of water quality and regulatory compliance with drinking and wastewater
standards.  Acts as a liaison with
representatives of various regulatory and government agencies as well as with
business, industry, community groups, and the public.



PRINCIPLE
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plans, assigns, supervises, trains, reviews, and evaluates the work of employees engaged in the field of water quality.
Analyzes water quality data with an emphasis on identifying real or potential deficiencies and develops resolutions and makes recommendations to manage those
Tracks rulemaking at all levels of government and develops response plans to rule changes
Ensures water quality permit requirements are met
Performs research and draft technical reports on topics such as public health concerns, contaminants of emerging concern, environmental health, and changes in treatment technologies
Oversees routine and special sampling programs and manages lab results, such as PFAS, DBP, Lead and Copper, LT2 and cryptosporidium
Works jointly with Engineering, Operations and Distribution departments to resolve or mitigate quality issues
Supports broader environmental quality efforts by developing and implementing protection plans
Prepares Annual Consumer Confidence Reports
Assists with development of communication items for customers, and customer outreach efforts
May represents the company to stakeholders such as businesses and community groups, customers, and the general public
Other duties as assigned



EDUCATION
& EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences, engineering, chemistry, biology or related field OR two years' experience in water treatment/water chemistry, distribution, facility design, or related
Master's degree in environmental sciences, engineering, chemistry, biology or related field preferred
A minimum of 2 years' experience in a directly related water quality position.
