Job Description:

Our Jacksonville office is seeking a staff geologist/hydrogeologist with one to five years of experience working in environmental or geologic science related field. Familiarity with evaluation and cleanup technologies for the movement of contaminants in soil, sediments, surface water, and groundwater is desirable. Your role in the organization will include participating and potentially leading (once qualified) investigation and sampling field teams during CERCLA, RCRA and other state governed programs. Drilling oversight, lithologic logging of soils, environmental sampling, subcontractor oversight, data evaluation, report preparation etc. are task to be performed by this staff member. This position require the employee to be a U.S. Citizen due to the projects they will be working on.

Your Role: :

• Work as a member of team(s) conducting hands-on multi-media environmental sampling, including surface and subsurface soil, groundwater, sediment, surface water, ambient air, indoor air, etc.
• Assist with field preparation efforts and support field activities, coordinating with the onsite FOL as well as technical lead(s) and/or project manager(s) back in the office.
• Record and compile data, accurately and timely, into coherent products for project team and customer use.
• Assist senior geologist and project managers with interpreting data patterns and trends, compare to regulatory standards and assist in the development of recommendations for actions based on regulatory constraints.
• Assist with preparation of written documents, sampling and analysis plans, data summary reports, and technical evaluations.
• Monitor investigative/remediation work to ensure compliance with contract specifications, regulations, and industry standards.
• Under supervision of a senior geologist, provide junior level geology and hydrogeology input to projects.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in geology, hydrogeology or related field. One to five years of related work experience is required.

o 1-3 years related professional experience in environmental assessment work. A master's degree may be considered as one year of experience.
o Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft programs like Word, Excel).
o A valid Driver's License in good standing.
o Capable of performing fieldwork, which at times can be extensive.

• Desired experience, knowledge, and skills
o OSHA 40-Hr Hazardous Waste Operations Training and all refreshers to maintain it as current.
o Progress toward professional licensure (GIT completed) is preferred, but not required..
o Experience working on Department of Defense projects.
o Knowledge of specialized computer software needed for data evaluation and 3-D visualization of contaminant distribution and lithology features.
o Strong oral and written communication skills.
o Ability to operate 4WD equipment and trailer attachments.
