General Industrial Segment Specialist

PPG Industries, Inc. in Pittsburgh, PA has a work-at-home General Industrial Segment Specialist position (with the ability to telecommute with appropriate telecommuting systems; the remote worksite must be within commuting distance of Pittsburgh, PA for weekly trips to the corporate office) responsible for providing analysis and technical resources to the General Industrial Commercial Manager, including responsibility for Secure Launch management, product platform design, and market analytics. Specific duties include: (i) leading projects with cross functional teams, including sales, marketing, technical, and product management, to ensure all strategies result in General Industrial Sales Growth; (ii) executing General Industrial Sales strategies to the regional sales teams; (iii) serving as the liaison of all customer product launches; (iv) identifying preferred product offerings of coatings for target market; (v) serving as the gatekeeper for laboratory prioritization, including maintaining priorities, timelines, and sales coordination; (vi) conducting market research on market trends and defining marketing dynamics; (vii) leading the marketing team in the design of sales tools/collateral; (viii) reporting financials on GI Strategic Initiatives; and (ix) managing all functions in compliance with PPG's Industrial Coatings Values and Mission Statement, goals for safety, code of ethics and financial performance.

Must have a bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Chemical Engineering or a directly related field and three (3) years of experience in a related position.

Experience must include (can be concurrent): (i) 3 years of sales/marketing coordination experience in the coatings industry; and (ii) 2 years of experience providing technical service assistance with a coatings manufacturer.

Must also know (through academic background, training, or experience): (i) OEM coating performance requirements; (ii) technical knowledge of chemistry in Industrial Coatings; and (iii) Market Dynamics, Market Research, and Market Trends within the Industrial Coatings segment.
