Global Helium and Rare Gases is seeking a Rare Gas Technician III to join our team located in East Chicago, IN. Responsibilities: The Rare Gas Technician will operate under minimal supervision, performs task that are moderately complex to complex in nature. Typical duties include moderately complex to complex set-up, operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment to ensure a safe, efficient work environment. At this level incumbents are typically required to have developed detailed technical knowledge of multiple major tasks and general knowledge of all others which are a normal part of the specialty. A high level of judgment is needed at this level to perform the job since instructions are mostly general, and incumbents require the ability to recognize and handle nonstandard occurrences and problems on a frequent basis. Exercises a high amount of independent action, seeking advice from more senior technicians, engineers and/or managers where deviations from the norm occur and where more creativity may be required. • Committed to personal safety and environmental accountability. • Possess the skills required to operate complex refinery under minimal supervision • Understanding of process equipment (i.e., Compressors, turbines, distillation columns) • Perform all work duties in compliance with Linde's Policies • Perform duties as trained under minimal supervision while operating within and in support of the Rare Gas Quality System • Be trained on and perform IATA/IMDG/49CFR shipping training and documentation • Develop and implement new processes for continuous improvement • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment • Must be able to accept occasional off-site and overnight assignments. • Elevated work up to 75 feet • Ability to read process & instrumentation diagrams and schematic wiring diagrams • Ability to work safely around various types of rotating equipment • Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships. • Mechanically inclined • Safe shipping and handling of hazardous materials including pure and crude (Krypton, Xenon and Neon). • Exhibit professional customer-focused behaviors at all times with both external and internal customers. • Reviews and follows procedures as necessary to ensure compliance of all company and industry standards to meet all regulatory agency requirements. • Ensuring effective communications with customers, coordinates deliveries, dispatches people and equipment to meet customer requirements • Weighing and filling liquid and gas trailers and dewars • Monitoring processes and providing status reports to management • Participating in inventory management activities • Scheduling and coordinating repair, modification and preventive maintenance operations • Overseeing and/or performing new equipment installations • Providing advice to management regarding equipment life and usage and in researching new equipment purchases • Coordinating and overseeing the movement of materials and equipment as required • Planned and unplanned overnight travel to plant/equipment sites may be required • Monitoring operations in-person and/or remotely as necessary and providing virtual support • Establishing new relationships and maintaining ongoing relationships with crude suppliers including upper management. • Performing visual and physical inspection of trailers and filling station equipment to ensure good working order and reports potential maintenance/ safety issues • Assisting production and maintenance technicians • Analyzing impediments to operational safety and efficiency • Adjusting controls to address changing conditions and anticipates problems before they occur • Responding to and troubleshooting of process upsets • Overseeing the coordination and dispatching of product delivery to internal and external customers • Performs other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization. - High School Diploma or equivalent is required. - Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record - Basic computer skills; Microsoft Excel, Word, Email, Data entry, etc. - Ability to read process & instrumentation diagrams and schematic wiring diagrams - Perform domestic hazmat shipping documents. - Perform International hazmat shipping documents. - Perform and be trained on IATA shipping training and documentation - Ability to work independently as well as part of a team - Ability to work shifts, which include evenings, weekends, and holidays - Ability to work safely around various types of rotating equipment - Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships. - Mechanically inclined - Willing and able to travel (Up to 10%) Linde is a leading global industrial gases and engineering company with 2023 sales of $33 billion.
