Job Overview : Coordinates, directs, and performs all maintenance activities on a designated shift

Duties and Responsibilities


  • Promotes safety in the workplace by assuring all electrical and mechanical guards and other safety devices are in working order and in place.
  • Serves as designated maintenance shift leader, directing work of other maintenance technicians as delegated by maintenance leadership .
  • Communicates regularly with all maintenance technicians, both individually and as a group, to ensure good two-way communication
  • Reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintains and repairs maintenance shop equipment.
  • Actively participates in the electronic management system for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment.
  • Supervises maintenance activities as related to production and building and grounds
  • A dministers preventive maintenance (PM) program
  • Ensures all machine efficiencies are in alignment with company goals
  • Evaluates maintenance capabilities and recommends traini ng needs
  • Champions the safety program for the maintenance department such as Lock-Out - Tag-Out.
  • Understands and performs processing on machines to ensure machine efficiency and high quality.
  • Uses tools ranging from common hand tools to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
  • Analyzes and repairs all manufacturing equipment including but not limited to plastic blow molding machines and ancillary equipment.
  • Coordinates specific activities with Production and Quality Departments


  • Maintains 5s in work area.
  • Teaches and transfers knowledge of technical aptitude to others, documenting as new knowledge is obtained.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  • Excellent communication (written & verbal), interpersonal and organizational skills required
  • Computer literacy, MS Office Suite products required

Education and Experience


  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, Associate degree in related field ; 10 years total maintenance experience with 5 years of experience in blow molding; and/or a combination of education and experience.

  • Work conditions consistent with a manufacturing environment . Frequent exposure to manufacturing operations requires the ability to use all necessary safety equipment . Standing, walking, stooping, and bending are frequent and required . Must be able to tolerate repetitive motions for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift to 5 0 pounds frequently . Ability to stand for at least 8 hours on concrete surface is required . Must be able to tolerate extreme temperatures.
