Position Overview
Assistant Controller provides oversight of financial activities of the Construction business unit of the Northwest division . The position also supervises accounting personnel and support staff.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
General
Oversight of financial activities of the Construction business units for the Northwest divisio n.
Prepare monthly financial statements ensuring all statements are appropriately analyzed and correctly stated.
Review balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis to confirm proper reconciliation and supporting documentation.
Review monthly financials with business unit managers addressing any issues.
Prepare annual budgets and financial reforecasts as required.
Prepare for and respond to internal and external audit requests.
Compile/analyze financial data from multiple sources by way of Excel, Hyperion and Essbase.
Ensure adequate controls are in place and maintained to safeguard financial assets. This includes all SOX controls and OMG and Shelly accounting policies and procedures.
Ensure property management system is updated and maintained with accurate information as needed.
Prepare city tax returns.
Prepare IFRS semi-annual reports.
Prepare annual IAS 37 reports.
May assist with other lines of business as well
Inventory and Costing
Maintain accurate inventory reporting for all locations.
Complete monthly inventory reconciliations and review of ending inventory.
Construction
Prepare month end construction reports and distribute.
Track and review monthly variances in job projections
Meet with construction managers to review open jobs .
Assist with SOX compliance.
Review jobs for WIP, booked and back logged tons, coordinate with project administrators.
Other Requirements
Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures.
Strict adherence to Shelly Company policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Book of Policies.
Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company policies, procedures, and applicable laws.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in accounting/finance required or the adequate experience with the Shelly Company's lines of business and functions.
A minimum of 7 years of experience and training in general finance and accounting areas.
Management experience is a plus but not required.
Proficient with Windows, Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Hyperion experience is preferred but not required.
Proven analytical skills.
Ability to demonstrate initiative.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
