The Role:



Moderna is on the lookout for a Biobank Technician I who is adept at supporting the operational excellence of our biorepository team. This key role involves maintaining the quality and integrity of biospecimens through precise handling, accurate documentation, and adherence to established storage processes. Situated in our Norwood, MA facility, this full-time, lab-based contract to hire position, will help drive the success of Moderna's biobanking initiatives.



Here's What You'll Do:



  • Operate the LabVantage Laboratory Inventory Management System (LIMS) with proficiency, ensuring the integrity of the sample life cycle and compliance with audit requirements.


  • Receive biospecimen shipments, meticulously document any anomalies, and efficiently escalate concerns to management.


  • Employ advanced robotics and automation equipment to systematically reformat and securely store biospecimens.


  • Collaborate with research and clinical teams to organize and prioritize biospecimen shipments in response to requests.


  • Methodically manage materials across various temperature requirements, strictly following SOPs and best practices for biospecimen handling.


  • Adhere to GLP/GCLP guidelines, regulatory mandates, and safety protocols, contributing to a culture of compliance and safety.


  • Operate within a controlled laboratory setting, taking necessary precautions against biohazard exposure, and demonstrating flexibility to accommodate operational schedules, including occasional evening and weekend shifts.


  • Execute additional responsibilities as needed to support the biobank's operational goals.





Here's What You'll Bring to the Table:



  • High School diploma or equivalent, complemented by 1-2 years of relevant experience in a laboratory or biospecimen management environment.


  • Solid experience with biospecimen lifecycle management and the operation of LIMS, with LabVantage proficiency being an asset.


  • A keen ability to concentrate on detailed tasks, a willingness to acquire new competencies, and adherence to complex written protocols and safety guidelines.


  • A combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge and skills for the position.
