Department



OPTOMETRY (BL-OPT-IUINA)



Job Summary





  • Serves as a point of contact for the IU School of Optometry, Indianapolis Eye Care Center.

  • Greets patients.

  • Collects insurance data.

  • Schedules patient appointments in person and by phone.

  • Authorizes insurance and retrieves Prior Authorization for services and materials as needed.

  • Fields and responds to general inquiries as well as patient satisfaction comments.




Qualifications



EDUCATION



Required



  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED).

WORK EXPERIENCE



Required



  • 6 months of experience in medical scheduling.


Preferred



  • Experience with a practice management system.

SKILLS



Required



  • Maintains a high degree of confidentiality.


Preferred



  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Demonstrates intermediate computer skills.

  • Proficient understanding of medical chart maintenance and insurance.




Working Conditions / Demands



The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.



Work Hours



Up to 29 hours per week.


Clinic hours are 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.
