TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a full-time Installation Technician to join our team in the San Francisco Bay area.
Job Summary: The Installation Technician will perform on-site or in-house servicing, repair and/or installation of company product(s). This job may include any aspect of field support and installation, and is not limited to electrical, data, and fiber optic cable installation; conduit and pull box installation; and pole and foundation installation. Determines most effective means to install equipment to maximize efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Installs equipment including but not limited to cameras, detectors, controller cabinets.
Installs electrical conductor, data conductor, and fiber optic cable.
Installs pull boxes, conduit, poles and foundations.
Connects conductors to equipment to make equipment work correctly.
Connects electrical conductors to power services to energize equipment.
Tests devices to ensure they work correctly.
Prepares logs to keep track of field conditions and installation activities.
Isolation of faults in units or components.
Field test of units or components.
Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. One-year certificate from college or technical school preferred.
Required Skills & Experience:
Experience pulling fiber optic cable
Experience with civil groundwork and other infrastructure
Electric cable routing and general cable pulling experience
Good writing, communication, mechanical, and computer skills
Good working knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite
Must maintain CA driver's license in good standing as verified by TransCore
Driving record must be free of DUI/DWI for three-year period prior to employment
Desired Skills:
Fiber optic splicing and testing
AVI tuning
Some experience working with Linux preferred
Prior toll maintenance and electronic bench repair experience preferred
Other Requirements:
Required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
Occasionally required to walk and climb or balance.
Regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions and moving traffic.
Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock.
Comfortable with confined space work.
Salary Range: $30 - $37 hourly, based upon experience.
This is a safety sensitive position subject to pre-employment drug testing including THC.
