General Summary

GTI Energy, the nation’s leading research, development, and training organization serving energy markets, has an opportunity for a graduate level internship within its Research & Engineering Group. GTI Energy’s process engineering group serves three general functions:  Evaluating and developing conceptual chemical processes through process and economic modeling, developing new processes through laboratory research, and providing process design documentation to our clients.  Our laboratory research team will need an intern in the summer of 2024 to assist with evaluating several gas conversion processes. The qualified candidate will interact with a team of professionals evaluating low carbon impact technologies including natural gas, biomass, and CO2 upgrading and conversion processes.

Primary Responsibilities

• Setup and run lab and bench scale gas conversion process under supervision


• Assist in catalyst synthesis


• Perform leak checks and general troubleshooting


• Use gas chromatography to evaluate product composition


• Calculate conversion and yield


• Assist in report reviews


• Other duties as assigned

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

• Laboratory skills


• Excellent oral and written communication


• Ability to follow direction and all safety protocols


• Ability to work independently

 

Education and Experience

• Currently pursuing a PhD in Chemical Engineering or similar
