Summary:

The Product Data Specialist at Vector Security will play a crucial role in supporting the efficient management of our product portfolio. Responsible for Vector Security’s master product data for the entire organization, the Product Data Specialist’s key purpose is to enhance overall operational efficiency and contribute to the organization's success by ensuring accurate, up-to-date product data, pricing, and coordination. This role encompasses various facets of product information management, requiring industry experience, technical acumen, analytical skills, and focus on seamless operations to meet the specific needs of Vector Security.

What You'll Do:

Managing Product Data and Processing Requests:





    • Product Data Governance:


      • Understand Vector Security’s product offerings, approved products, and their impact on the business.

      • Understand and maintain consistency in product hierarchy data.

      • Collaborate with the Product Team to comprehend Vector Security's product strategy and roadmap.

      • Develop and implement product data governance policies and procedures to ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity.




    • Data Quality Assurance:

      • Leverage industry and technical experience to efficiently locate and extract data points from a wide range of source materials.

      • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and enforce data quality standards.

      • Conduct regular audits and quality checks on product data, promptly identifying and rectifying errors and inconsistencies.

      • Implement measures, including data validation processes and automated checks, to enhance data accuracy and reliability.




    • Request Processing:

      • Process requests and initiate new part/cost/pricing setups within company data systems (D365 & F&O) based on Product Dev Team approval.

      • Activate existing parts upon approval by the Product Dev Team.




    • Product Lifecycle Management:

      • Manage all product data in D365 and F&O, ensuring consistency.

      • Handle CPQ tool (PROS) hierarchy in relation to product data.

      • Collaborate with the Design Team and Product Dev Team to identify product consolidation opportunities (e.g., patch cables, batteries).

      • Add labor hours to products based on defined standards.

      • Add status or notes to products, such as NDAA compliance, suggested replacements, etc.





Research and Analysis Reports:





    • Product Alternatives:


      • Research alternatives for End-of-Life (EOL) products and propose approved suggestions.

      • Address incomplete or missing information requests through thorough research.




    • Product Performance Analysis:

      • Analyze sales data and customer feedback to assess the performance of existing products.

      • Identify patterns and trends in product usage and customer satisfaction.

      • Use data analytics tools to extract meaningful insights from large datasets related to product performance, customer behavior, and market trends.





What You'll Need:



  • Education Requirement:


    • High School Diploma or equivalent. Technical trade certification or equivalent on-the-job experience.




  • Experience With Security Product Lines:

    • Must be familiar with security products to quickly and accurately add and maintain product database.

    • Minimum of 3 to 6 years of hands-on security product support and/or product management experience.




  • Strong Intermediate to Advanced Skills with MS Office Suite\Excel, Experience using Microsoft Dynamics and PowerBI highly Preferred. 

    • To effectively track, monitor, and analyze data, a thorough understanding of the MS Office suite is required.




  • Must be able to make decisions based upon sound judgment, and must possess the highest levels of attention to detail:

    • Must be able to make the sound and accurate decisions that will affect our company/departments financial success.




  • Data Base Management, Product Data Management, and Inventory experience is a plus:

    • Attention to detail.

    • Ability to sort & manage large groupings of date with speed and accuracy.

    • Understanding of data relationships and impacts.




  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision:

    • Position must be able to know when to act independently and when to engage management.

    • Very fast paced environment, person must be able to multi-task and once properly trained, utilize that training to work independently.




  • Confidentiality:

    • Must be able to maintain both company and client confidential information.

    • Position demands someone with a level of integrity.
