What We're Looking For: Barge Design Solutions, Inc. is looking for qualified candidates for a Senior Geologist position in our Nashville, Chattanooga, Knoxville, or Atlanta Offices. The successful candidate will be a seller-doer for an environmental assessment/remediation group managing, planning, and implementing field investigations, data management and analyses, compliance tasks, and report writing. This position will focus on technical leadership and the development of strong client relationships and strategic growth opportunities for this discipline.
This position requires a dynamic individual who is flexible, learns quickly, can work independently, and can lead project teams. This position will include significant field work and report preparation. The position interacts throughout the company with internal business and project managers and externally with clients.
Responsibilities
Working knowledge of Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, and/or Florida environmental regulations.
Strong writing and presentation skills.
Strong knowledge of various industry practices and markets. Technical credibility resulting in strong rapport with clients.
Strong client relationship skills. Lead preparation of project scopes of work, proposals and presentations.
Effectively communicate highly specialized information to numerous audiences, including clients, senior leadership and critical business/external stakeholders.
Ability to make strong business decisions guided by broadly defined strategies that positively impact the defined geographic market.
Understanding and experience with strategies to promote and grow regional business unit.
Follow and mentor staff in safe work practices and adhering to company policies.
Development and management of budgets, schedules, and quality control processes.
Experienced in interaction with Municipal/State/Federal regulators in the Southeast
Specific skills/activities will include:
Assessment and remediation of Brownfield projects
Experience with hydrogeological assessments for Landfill Permitting
Groundwater transport and contaminant modeling
Significant field experience in the southeast managing field work including:
Ground-water well installation and monitoring
Soil logging
Core logging
Soils analysis and Permeability testing
Surface-water flow/monitoring experience
Asbestos assessment/abatement experience
Education & Experience Qualifications:
BS in geology or engineering geology
Proven technical background in environmental assessment and remediation for projects in the Southeast.
Current OSHA 40 Hour Training and Annual Refresher
Professional Registered Geologist preferably in Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, or Florida
Project management experience
Experience conducting environmental assessments and remedial actions
Number of years of relevant employment: minimum of six years, preferably 10 or more years of experience
Exceptional organizational, technical, leadership, written and oral communication, as well as creative problem solving.
