About the Department
The Urban Resiliency Initiative is a research and programming initiative at the University of Chicago in the Department of Comparative Human Development. Under the leadership of Professor Margaret Beale Spencer, it consists of several ongoing projects with support from the National Institue of Health.
Job Summary
The job provides basic technical support activities related to scientific research projects. Complies with institutional, state, and federal regulatory policies, procedures, directives and mandates. Assists in drafting presentations on research findings.
This position will provide research support to the PostDoctoral Scholar in the Urban Resiliency Initiative (URI) and secondary support to the Principal Investigator. Under general supervision, the research assistant/technician will assist the URI team with an ongoing qualitative coding task.
Responsibilities
Assist the Postdoctoral Scholar in the Urban Resiliency Initiative (URI) with an ongoing qualitative coding task.
Organizing codes organization (i.e., determining which codes are for the BPCs/projectives and which codes are for the interviews).
Assist with any other qualitative coding tasks assigned by the postdoctoral scholar or the principal investigator.
This job provides technical and administrative support in a laboratory environment performing basic laboratory techniques, research and analysis under direction.
Collects and enters data. Assists in analysis of data and with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.
Performs other related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Minimum requirements include vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field (not typically required to have a four-year degree).
