SUMMARY



Paragon, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation, is currently seeking qualified CDL Truck Drivers for a residential lead-contaminated soil removal project located in St. Francois County, Missouri. Site work is anticipated to occur annually from April to September until the project is completed. The remediation project involves excavating contaminated soil from residential properties, hauling the material to a local repository, and backfilling the excavations with clean material.

Responsibilities




ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position, and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintain valid Missouri Commercial Driver's License (CDL) throughout employment in this position
  • Operate haul trucks (single axle or tandem) in a safe and efficient way in compliance with all applicable Federal, state, and local legislation and in compliance with workplace policies and procedures
  • Conduct DOT compliant Pre/Post Inspections
  • Inspects vehicle for proper and safe operating conditions before and after each trip
  • Perform daily safety and maintenance checks
  • Ensure safety and compliance of loads
  • Practice and maintain workplace safety to the highest standard
  • Ensure equipment is safely and securely stored
  • Obtain proper authorization for all deliveries/pick-ups
  • Maintain DOT driver's log and other required transport documentation
  • Work with tractor/trailer components, including bending and cranking landing gear as well as climbing in and out of cabs and sitting for extended periods of time
  • Safely deliver finished loads to assigned destinations
  • Clean equipment as scheduled and as required
  • Work in a team environment
  • Support on site remediation work as directed


Qualifications




QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

  • Required (Minimum) Qualifications
    • Must have and maintain a valid Missouri Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
    • Must have completed 40 HOUR HAZWOPER and current 8 HOUR refresher.
    • Must have completed OSHA 10 Construction Outreach training.
    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Five (5) years of commercial truck driving experience in single axle and/or tandem axle trucks.


  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
    • Knowledge of dump truck and equipment safety
    • Knowledge of equipment maintenance and storage
    • Knowledge of all OSHA workplace safety requirements and procedures
    • Knowledge of all DOT compliance regulations as a DOT driver


  • Preferred
    • Six (6) or more years of commercial dump truck experience.
    • Experience working on complex environmental investigation and remediation sites.
    • Experience working on projects under contract with the Federal Government.
    • First Aid/CPR trained.

  • Maintain valid DOT med card and DOT Physical. Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking or standing for prolonged periods of time; most of time is spent sitting in a comfortable position with frequent opportunity to move about.




WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Job is performed outdoors with almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, bio hazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises.




SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • No supervisory responsibilities.




ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS


  • As a condition of employment, personnel will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, be prepared to fill out DOT qualification paperwork, as well as have acceptable reference and background check that meet the requirements of the contract. Must have reliable transportation to/from work.
