MAINTENANCE MECHANIC

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES
Observes all OSHA and facility safety rules and regulations including use of personal protective equipment.Examples........Lock-out/Tag-out, Arc-Flash, Hot Work, Fall Protection, etc.
Follows all established Good Manufacturing Practices, including maintaining an orderly and clean work area.These are intense food manufacturing/food safety programs that are not flexible.
Trouble shooting and diagnosis and repair of mechanical and electrical failures.
Assures preventive maintenance program is conducted on all plant equipment.Work orders are completed using an SAP based CMMS. Candidates must be comfortable using a computer and or tablet documenting their work. This type of work requires a high attention to detail and the ability to look beyond the basic task list on the work order; that is to say the ability to recognize and correct a mechanical or electrical issue before it becomes a problem.
Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment in a timely manner to minimize downtime.Candidates must have superior mechanical and electrical skills/experience to execute repairs in a timely fashion. Previous experience in a similar food manufacturing background would be a tremendous help.
Perform welding, using electric and gas equipment.MIG and TIG welding experience on mild steel and stainless steel is a plus.
Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.Candidates should be able to use existing documentation to their advantage to execute repairs.This would include hard wire and PLC electrical drawings and mechanical blueprints.
Duties may involve: pipe fitting, welding, machining, installing, aligning and balancing new equipment; and repairing buildings Experience with freon refrigeration system is a plus.
Employee regularly required standing, reaching, bending, and moving about the facility.
Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
Hearing ability to meet manufacturing facility safety requirements.
PURPOSE STATEMENT
The Maintenance Mechanic controls the efficient operation of all plant equipment by performing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and electronic repair and preventive maintenance
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES
Troubleshoots and diagnoses all maintenance failures.
Uses assembly drawings, P&ID's and manuals to tune equipment for operation, uses electrical (VFD's, SCR's, motor starters) and logic (PLC, SLC) principles to solve equipment problems.
Uses basic plumbing, metal working and general facilities and building maintenance knowledge as needed.
Works with operating devices such as gages, RTD's, pressure transmitters, I/P's and vortex flow meters.
Trains new Associates and team members on required skill sets for Maintenance.
Maintains work area in a safe and orderly fashion according to GMP and Safety guidelines.
Performs any other related miscellaneous duties assigned by Team Leader.
