Role Description


The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing various accounting functions, the company-wide close and financial consolidation process, as well as managing and driving major process initiatives including cross-functional projects and system changes. This role is responsible for significant planning and aligning cross functionally including with respect to major process initiatives and generally being a subject matter expert.


 


Responsibilities 



  • Oversee and provide leadership for monthly close process.

  • Ensure financial statements and accounting policies comply with US GAAP.

  • Review and present financial statement variance analysis to senior management.

  • Provide oversight and leadership for the monthly close process and financial statement review including providing value add analytic reviews. Also including, but not limited to, schedules for reporting packages, and support for external reporting.

  • Plan and align cross functionally with respect to major process initiaitives and be a subject matter expert.

  • Develop, monitor and maintain the Company’s finance and accounting control policies and procedures in accordance with SOX.

  • Oversee the implementation of new accounting guidance by researching, reviewing, and analyzing the applicable accounting literature.

  • Evaluate and apply accounting policies in accordance with the Company’s policies and US GAAP.

  • Manage the coordination and preparation for financial audits and act as a liaison to the external audit team including managing timetables and deadlines.

  • Compile and review forecast information for FP&A on a quarterly basis.

  • Act as a liaison and build strong relationships with business partners as well as represent Accounting’s best interests in all cross-functional work.

  • Lead and manage the accounting team including promoting employee development and a culture of innovation.

  • Partner with Business Support to recruit, train, coach and develop direct reports. Additional responsibilities include ensuring that individual objectives are established and reviewed using the performance management process to create an environment of innovation, reward excellence and address performance issues.

  • Evaluate downstream and future impacts of potential changes to procedures and systems while contemplating strategic impact of new and/or changing business needs.

  • Lead, identify, implement and analyze process improvement opportunities, business process design and enhancements to tools and systems.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for integrations and other major projects.

  • Lead other special projects and assignments as needed.


 


 Expectations  



  • Strong knowledge of diverse accounting processes

  • Expert knowledge of accounting principles (U.S. GAAP)

  • Accounting expertise in basic financial statement fundamentals, ledgers and journal entries

  • Expertise in accounting ERP, knowledge of JDE preferred

  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, organize and work effectively in deadline-driven environment

  • Effective communication and leadership skills

  • Ability to diagnose and solve work flow problems

  • Ability to embrace change and demonstrate flexibility within a dynamic organization

  • High Ethical Standards


 


 Education/Certifications   



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

  • Certified Public Accountant and/or MBA preferred


 


Experience/Minimum Requirements 



  • Seven (7) to ten (10) years of combined experience in public accounting and general accounting experience

  • Experience with construction and project-based business preferred

  • Experience in public accounting preferred


 


Organizational Relationship   


Reports to: Assistant Controller 


Title(s) of direct reports (if applicable): Accounting Supervisor, Senior Staff Accountant, Staff Accountant


Working Conditions: This role falls into our hybrid work model working in the office on Monday through Thursday.  On Fridays, teammates on the hybrid schedule will have the option to work from the office or home.  There is an expectation of collaboration with teammates and stakeholders for moments that matter that could require travel.
