Tap into the professional possibilities of Enterprise Products Company.The Shift Supervisor is responsible for operations, maintenance and reliability within the Mentone Gas Plant or Orla Gas Plant. The Supervisor is also directly responsible for safety of personnel, protection of the environment, and prevention of damage to systems and equipment through continual promotion of safe work practices and conditions. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Motivates and leads an empowered Operations Team by communicating common goals, strategies and results of our unit.
  • Ensures all employees are provided the opportunity for training to maximize their capabilities.
  • Interfaces with Engineering Team members to ensure that projects are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Supervises employees assigned on two rotating shifts at the facility and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of operators at this location.
  • Assists Operations Management to prepare and recommend annual operating budget and is responsible for cost containment measures.
  • Reviews and analyzes various operating data to identify areas of lost opportunity as well as opportunities to increase reliability, optimize operations and lower operating costs.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for appraisal of employee performance, rewarding and disciplinary actions of employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Works closely with the Commercial Team to maximize the profitability of the plant and system.
  • Ensures there is an organized program to minimize downtime.
  • Ensures compliance with OSHA (Process Safety Management and Process Hazard Analyses, etc.) and other regulatory requirements.
  • Assists Operations Manager and Superintendent in planning and scheduling of maintenance projects and activities.
  • Acts as emergency response team member if needed.
The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required.
  • A degree or certificate in Process Technology is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of chemical plant operations experience is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of previous supervision experience supervising operators is preferred.
  • Knowledge of natural gas or chemical processing plant operations and maintenance is required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all federal, state, and local regulations is preferred.
  • Must have the ability to supervise a large diverse work force (10 operators) and possess in-depth knowledge of safe work practices and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and in writing, and the ability to work across organization to accomplish objectives are required.
  • Effective computer skills and the ability to work with basic mathematical concepts, including the ability to apply concepts such as percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions if required are required.
  • Ability to recognize, respect and utilize the strength of a diverse team, while promoting the importance and abilities of each member to contribute to the team effort is required.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical drawings, documents, manuals and reports is required.
  • Must have the ability to recognize business opportunities, evaluate economic return on investment and implement sound business decisions.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies or members of the community is required.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions is required.
  • Ability to interpret variety of technical instructions is required.
