What You Will Do

The MS&T Engineering Leader of Packaging is main point of contact in Fort Washington(FW) for the life cycle management of the Packaging lines. MS&T Engineering Leader Packaging is responsible for providing technical expertise in the areas of design, selection, installation, commissioning and qualification, validation and monitoring of packaging equipment, processes, and systems. Departmental technical expertise and leadership for package development, packaging equipment installation, qualification, validation and monitoring. Will collaborate with Operations, MS&T Packaging , marketing, supply chain, process excellence. Will manage a team of MS&T packaging (packaging equipment engineer, packaging project leader, and base business support). Oversite of the packaging technical strategy and the packaging area LRFP for FW, and be a source of consult for the other sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and execute multiple and/or key packaging qualification, validation and monitoring assignments concerned with life cycle management initiatives and develop & deploy risk mitigation strategies to deliver project commitments.

• Lead and improve multiple and/or large scope packaging qualification, validation and monitoring processes for various equipment technologies across multiple locations simultaneously. This person will work with sites in an effort to provide the best in class packaging processes to the Kenvue NA manufacturing sites (FW main and Lititz as support. Can support Las Piedras and Guelph)

• Lead, develop and execute packaging equipment qualification and validation strategies across the Kenvue manufacturing sites. Responsibilities include understanding existing limitations and developing technical solutions to eliminate roadblocks.

• Lead large scope, high business impact packaging projects related to such areas as compliance initiatives, brand maintenance or expansion, cost saving initiatives, innovative package development, and environment goals.

• Identify and stay abreast on emerging industry guidance for packaging qualification and validation requirements. He or she will investigate and communicate packaging validation innovation and trends in an effort to improve the McNeil OTC Supply Chain.

• Lead, develop and execute packaging equipment qualification, validation and monitoring strategies by providing engineering solutions, technical advice and assistance to Manufacturing and other departments as required.

• Lead the development of Validation Project Plans, Validation Master Plans and Validation Batch Records. He or she drives value through identifying and executing multi-site projects by improving compliance, quality, efficiency and cost.

• Support the development and assessment of the following types of information to support package development and life cycle management initiatives, including but not limited to the following activities: design requirements, definition of the scope of change, packaging and equipment solution proposals, prior knowledge and knowledge gap assessments, risk assessments, test plans, and test results analysis and conclusions.

• Develop, write, gain cross-functional alignment, and route for approval package development and Packaging Validation documentation that captures the above end-to-end project specific information. (Examples of documentation: Package Development Assessment and Plan documents, Packaging Line Trial Protocols and Reports, Package Development Reports, Packaging Validation Impact Assessments, etc.)

• Lead the execution of line trials, engineering studies, process qualifications, process performance qualifications and packaging process monitoring including summary reports.

• Ensure all trainings and if applicable, those of direct reports, are current and successfully completed prior to the execution of specific work activities.

• Support and/or lead the development, execution and/or review of Change Controls for packaging related changes.

• Support and/or lead packaging related investigations, use applicable tools (e.g. Kepner Tregoe or Process Excellence) to facilitate root cause identification, write and/or approve reports as required.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or Technical field is required. Advanced degree in Engineering, Technical or Management is preferred.

• Minimum 8 years of industry experience is required with at least 7 years of Packaging Equipment, Validation or Operation experience is preferred.

• Demonstrated technical knowledge related to packaging equipment qualification and validation

• A minimum of 2 - 4 years of supervisory experience

• Previous experience focusing on managing and/or supporting technical projects

• Proficiency in MS Office applications required, especially in Excel and PowerPoint

• Experience in customer focus, program/project management, accountability, process orientation, and strategic thinking

• Ability to work in a cross functional environment relating to R&D, Marketing, Operations, Sales, etc.

• Negotiation skills, ability to effectively work with peers, strong leadership and analytical skills. The ability to establish project criteria, monitoring activities and successfully execute several projects concurrently

• This role may require up to 25% travel based on business needs.

Desired Qualifications

• Specific experience within the Consumer, OTC, or Pharmaceutical industry

• GMP experience

• Experience in a highly regulated environment

• Experience in process excellence and process thinking and application of tools

• Six Sigma or Process Excellence certification
