Job Description:

The Agile Scrum Master I helps oversee the scrum and development teams in efficiently tackling initiatives that drive better experiences for client and customer, improve revenue and effectively drive key company projects thru completion. The scrum master is expertly knowledgeable in Agile methodology and scrum and able to educate others. They also act as a buffer between the scrum team and product owner and maintain a safe working environment for the team by helping with conflict resolution. Scrum master must be able to think fast to help solve problems. This role interacts primarily with development, software quality assurance, UI/UX and product ownership across channels. Channels include web and contact center experiences aligned to clients and customers.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Ensure all aspects of grooming (Spikes, User Stories or Defects) is fully documented and acceptance criteria is outlined consistently

  • Facilitate daily standups (or the daily scrum) by project as needed.

  • Facilitate sprint planning; ensure expected items are fully groomed and alignment from Product Owner priorities before sprint planning begins

  • Facilitate sprint reviews - Participate in the meeting and capture feedback.

  • Aid in estimation and sub-task creation. Manage resource availability by Sprint; Protect from over-committing and scope creep.

  • Responsible for ensuring scrum team commitments are met within the sprint timeline.

  • Drive Retrospectives - Note areas for improvement and action items for future sprints.

  • Work as the administrator of the scrumboard. Ensure that cards are up to date with a consistent process.

  • Meet individually with team members and stakeholders as needed. Iron-out team disagreements about process and work styles.

  • Regular analysis of burndown charts and other portfolio planning tools/reports to understand what gets built, at what cadence and within the time allocation.

  • Aid the team by eliminating external blockers and managing internal roadblocks through process or workflow improvements

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree/Associate's Degree preferred or equivalent experience

EXPERIENCE

  • 1-3+ years of experience performing requirements gathering, elaboration, story creation, acceptance validation

  • 1-3+ years of hands-on experience with agile tools, such as Jira or equivalent

  • Experience in working with business partners, technology teams and customers in defining requirements and running deliveries

  • Experience in one or more software development roles such as architecture, design, development, test, configuration management or quality assurance

  • Experience managing requirements in an agile format from discovery through to delivery

  • Previous testing or development experience is preferred


CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSURES
  • Scrum Master certification through reputable certification service

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Ability to analyze and think quickly and to resolve conflict

  • Ability to train scrum team in achieving higher levels of scrum maturity

  • Adept in leading the scrum team in using Agile methodology and scrum practices

  • Clear understanding of Scrum Master vs Product Owner role differences

  • Deep understanding of a user story & anatomy therein (Actor, Action Taken, Behavior, Business Value Justification ( i.e. As a .... I want to... So that....), acceptance criteria etc.

  • Exceptional listening and communication skills with a strong ability to communicate business problems, and alternatives

  • Knowledge of Process/Sequence diagramming

  • Must be objective, team- and task-oriented, and able to facilitate

  • Proficiency in managing multi-project scrum master duties at same time

  • Proficient in team collaboration and efficient problem-solving skills

  • Strong attention to detail and desire for quality


COMMUNICATION AND CONTACTS

Ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships.

DECISION MAKING

Plans and performs highly complex or technical work where no procedures or standard methods are available.Base salary: $75,000-$85,000
