Job Description

This position is responsible for daily processing support for the Brokerage Department.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports registered representatives, platform Bank employees, internal clients and auditors when necessary. Corresponds with customers and confers with coworkers to answer inquiries. Translates or explains what information means and how it can be used.
  • To have or quickly obtain investment/securities knowledge necessary for each transaction and workflow. Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution. Update and use relevant knowledge to stay technically current in applying new knowledge and regulation to the job.
  • Expected to be familiar with and learn products: Annuities, Mutual funds, 529 plans, Alternative Investments, Insurance, Advisory/Fee Based, Equity, Fixed Income, REITS, UITs and Options.
  • Adhere to internal policies and procedures while meeting processing deadlines. Expected to learn external policies and procedures of the Clearing Firm. Need to be familiar with and understand Clearing Firm's software and set up IT entitlements for the firm.
  • Process transactions while adhering to the standards of accuracy across various functions: New Accounts (including IRAs, Qualified Plans, Estates, and Trusts), Transfer of Assets, Cashiering Funds Received and Physical Securities, Reporting and Commissions & Accounting.
  • Research securities transactions such as purchases, margin, conversions/ splits, redemptions or payments. Research tax inquiries, dividends, tender offers and customer requests.
  • Coordinate restricted stock transactions, ADV mailings, general mailings, statement messages, decedent client support, unpaid trade extensions, NSF checks, check stop pays and trade corrections. Monitor reporting to FINRA, MSRB, TRACE and Opt Out.
  • Prepare General Ledger entries. Track commission by State, FA and product. Calculate allowables for FINRA filing, RMDs, accrued interest, SMA. Import and export data and be able to manipulate the data for review and summary.
  • Prepare blotters and reports summarizing daily transactions and earnings for individuals.
  • Schedule and coordinate transfer and delivery of assets between companies, departments and customers. Apply cost basis, fees and regulation to these transactions.
  • Provide clerical support to include answering phones, processing mail, filing, faxing and scanning.
  • Assist with special projects and other tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required/ Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Previous experience in Operations, Investments, Brokerage, or Accounting preferred.
  • FINRA licenses a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Self-motivated.
  • Ability to perform simple and complex mathematical calculations
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to adhere to deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
