The salary range for this position is dependent on experience level ranging from $76,000 to $95,000.00



Job Summary



The Engineer, Meter Services will develop metering standards for AVANGRID, as well as design custom meter sets for large C&I customers and interchange metering points. The Engineer, Meter Services will provide technical expertise in meter programming, software, and communication systems related to metering. The Engineer, Meter Services will support field technicians by providing training, troubleshooting, and assistance when needed. The Engineer, Meter Services will also support the development and reporting of the annual meter testing programs.



Key Responsibilities



  • Develop and approve standards and equipment for metering-the main responsibility of the Engineer, Meter Services is to support senior Meter Engineers to develop strategy and requirements for all metering technology within Avangrid and to ensure that the technology meets all regulatory and technical requirements. This includes consideration of multi-year metering purchase contracts and flexibility for new uses of metering technology. The Engineer, Meter Services will support reviewing technical proposals for interchange metering as well as customer metering.

  • Design for custom metering applications-calculate loads to determine the proper sizes of meters and metering-related equipment for larger customers with custom needs. Document and track new service metering equipment and manage the inventory at a high level. Use technical experience to identify and support the technical feasibility analysis and evaluation of new technology, services and programs for customers.

  • Coordinate Mandated Meter Programs-with oversight, the Engineer, Meter Services will create the regulatory mandated meter test programs, coordinate the assignments, and create the reports for the PSC as needed.

  • Support billing related questions to ensure customer satisfaction-the Engineer, Meter Services has established a subject matter expertise of usage and meter accuracy and will work with others to provide data and information related to billing complaints or issues as they arise.

  • Provide technical training to others, including field technicians, customers and other internal departments.

  • Regulatory Contact-the Engineer, Meter Services, may have regular contact with the NY PSC and NY ISO as it relates to metering. In addition, the Engineer, Meter Services will have regular contact with meter and meter-related vendors to get training and review their metering and meter related equipment for applications and uses within AVANGRID.




Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET (or equivalent) accredited university/college and 2 years of related experience in commercial building construction and systems, electric or mechanical engineering and building design, electrical controls and circuitry and energy management systems, and network or cellular data communications. Associates Degree in and electrical or mechanical technical discipline will be considered for a candidate with years of related experience.

  • Theoretical Engineering knowledge - Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Analytic, modeling & Calculation, understanding the business model; Global View of the Business (Values cross-functional collaboration, understands importance of growing knowledge and developing relationships and links across the organization)

  • Practical engineering experience/application - Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Construction, (e.g. field experience, standardization "Perform economic analyses of engineering alternatives, develop business cases and defend in front of stakeholders.")

  • Engineering documentation - Ability to adequately document and interpret engineering documentation

  • Ability to review and approve engineering work done by others to ensure compliance with company standards, specifications, and contract requirements

  • Knowledge of Regulatory and Compliance Environment - Local, State and Federal Regulatory Standards and requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access

  • Proficient in technical feasibility and scenario analysis

  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills

  • Strong technical writing skills

  • Ability to travel
