SDi has an opportunity for a Windows Engineer to join our talented Norfolk, VA engineering team. The Windows Engineer shall have expert knowledge of all elements of System Development Life cycle including System Definition, Development, Design, Analysis & Control, Integration, and Testing. The Windows Engineer shall be able to demonstrate strong problem solving and analytical skills, the ability to lead through ambiguity in a fast-paced environment, the ability to establish confidence and credibility with managers and senior level IT leaders, excellent communications skills, and foster open communications on teams.

Job Summary
As a Windows Engineer, you will play a vital role within a talented engineering team in guiding the System Development Life Cycle, ensuring successful development, integration, and testing. With your strong problem-solving skills, leadership abilities, and exceptional communication skills, you will excel in leading projects within a fast-paced, secure DoD environment, sometimes on-site at Naval Station Norfolk but also at our downtown Norfolk office. Your expertise will contribute to the continued success and innovation of our organization and our customer. Responsibilities
The Windows Engineer will be responsible for:

Contributing to the planning and implementation of maintenance and installation work, including building and configuration of unique infrastructure components in virtualized environments.
With the support of a talented Windows Engineering team, solving complex problems or a unique set of challenges related to Windows-based DoD systems.
Participating in stakeholder engagement and communications with senior level Government personnel, creatively solving design challenges and IT sustainment issues as part of a talented team, managing, and explaining resolutions, corrective actions; identifying lessons learned and the collection and dissemination of mission-critical information.
Designing critical mission components using appropriate modelling techniques following agreed architectures, design standards, patterns, and methodology.
Creating and recommending the best way ahead (using an Analysis of Alternatives, for example) for a forward-looking systems design solution and presenting your unique ideas to our customer.
Participating in one-of-a kind, unique Afloat-related installations, and de-installations of hardware and/or software Advising the system engineering team in the creation of test cases using in-depth technical analysis of both functional and non-functional specifications (such as reliability, efficiency, usability, maintainability, and portability).
Advising the system engineering team in the creation of test scripts, materials, and regression test packs to test new and amended software or services.
Producing specifications of unique cloud-based or on-premises components, tiers, and interfaces, for translation into detailed designs using selected services and products.


Required Qualifications

BS Degree in a related field
MS Degree in a related field or a minimum of 8+ years of equivalent work experience managing and leading the successful realization of complex systems.
A minimum of active SECRET clearance is required for this position.
Must have an active CompTIA Security+ certification.
The Windows Engineer must have experience in the following areas:

Windows Server 2008 and 16, 19 and 2022
MS Exchange
Active Directory
Group Policy (GPOs)
Security Policy
HP Service Manager
DNS
Hyper V


Desired Qualifications (salary commensurate)

Microsoft Server-related certifications with Hyper V certification highly preferred
Microsoft Azure-related certifications
CISCO or AWS-related certifications
Knowledge of Maritime systems or networks, especially within the DoD
Design Synthesis
Developmental Testing
Operational Testing

Candidates must be willing to submit to a background check prior to employment.
Physical requirements for this position include the ability to lift 25 pounds regularly, the ability to move safely in confined spaces, the ability to wear personal protective gear correctly when needed, the ability to go onsite to company and customer worksites, the ability to remain seated for extended periods of time, the ability to use a computer keyboard, and the ability to see and respond to dangerous situations when needed.
