The NAPA Accounting Manager, Inventory leads a team in preparing and analyzing monthly, quarterly and annual financial information. This role is responsible for conducting periodic reviews on key balance sheet accounts with a primary focus on inventory and inventory valuation. This position is highly visible to corporate personnel and provides exposure to finance leadership. Ideal candidate must be able to coach, motivate and inspire supporting personnel reporting up to this position. Prior supervisory experience required. Working knowledge of PeopleSoft and comfort with exploring and using new technologies is a plus. Must exhibit critical thinking and problem-solving skills and ability to work independently. CPA Required.
Responsibilities
Assist with accounting research, documentation, and implementation of new or enhanced accounting policies and subsequently monitor adherence to such policies.
Oversight of key balance sheet accounts with a primary focus on Inventory, including Inventory management, tracking and reconciliation.
Provides business support to operations and advises on accounting policies and business transactions.
Responsible for month-end close, ensuring the integrity of the General Ledger. Also maintaining supporting schedules or documentation associated with closing journal entries.
Interface with external/internal auditors in managing requests concerning processes and deliverables
Seeks opportunities to modify or enhance current processes and ensures processes are documented and up-to-date
Contribute to the preparation of GAAP financial statements, which includes document preparation, data analysis, integrity validation, and reconciliation processes.
Evaluates trends, identifies and investigates unusual or unexpected account variances
Ensures targeted monthly deadlines are met and key controls are completed
Promotes teamwork between operational groups and financial departments.
Resolves complex accounting issues; ability to perform under pressure and multitask is essential.
Actively coaches, develops and encourages team members to perform to the best of its abilities
Assists the accounting team with monthly responsibilities, as needed
Makes recommendations to resolve issues and makes corrections, as necessary
Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Accounting combined with 5 - 8 years accounting/finance experience
Minimum 3-5 years in supervisory experience
CPA certification
Thorough understanding of basic accounting concepts including the balance sheet method of review.
Familiarity with US GAAP and multi-entity accounting
Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability
Highly detail oriented and ability to multitask and meet assigned deadlines
Critical thinking skills with timely, effective decision making
Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives
Exemplifies exceptional customer service and communication skills with the ability to develop and grow relationships
Must have a strong focus on technology and experience using cloud and web based applications. Experience with Peoplesoft or Oracle is a plus.
