Truterra Dairy Systems Specialist

Truterra Dairy Systems Specialist - (t hree positions). These positions will work remote/virtual. Ideal candidates will reside in Central California, mid-west or Upstate New York

Job Summary:

This position supports the implementation of Truterra's Dairy Platform , an integrated set of best-in-class offerings designed to help meet the goals of dairy co-ops, processors, and CPG customers by measuring, reducing, and reporting GHG emissions . Truterra's suite of proprietary GHG quantification tools meets all assessment needs for milksheds, individual farms, and individual interventions . The Truterra Dairy team's expertise spans farm gate to processor and is widely recognized throughout the value chain.

This position wi ll focus on Truterra's proprietary, industry leading LCA GHG quantification models and implementation of the dairy portion of Truterra's Climate Smart grant implementation, including on-farm assessments and training of processor staff to assist with conducting assessments efficiently . The Truterra Dairy platform is a component of best-in-class dairy environmental stewardship assessment/improvement tools for utilization by trained service providers to support Land O'Lakes Dairy Foods and other Truterra customers . This position requires a customer service mindset, a flexible, can-do attitude and the ability to deal with ambiguity at times . The successful candidate is expected to work independently and collaboratively with others.

This individual will report to Truterra's Dairy Environmental Systems Expert . Daily responsibilities will be to assist with enteric, manure, feed and energy GHG assessment and intervention opportunities to support Truterra's $90M Climate smart grant . The ideal candidate will have dairy farm experience and the ability to develop and deliver communication materials (i.e., Powerpoint slide decks, summary charts, written documents for farmers, advisors and industry staff.

Responsibilities:

Serve as part of a team to c onduct farm-level analysis for purposes of inventory build up and pipeline exploration

Conduct and complete whole farm footprint assessments using proprietary Truterra quantification models, as well as industry tools (such as RuFAsv3) and other models as appropriate , to support customer needs and USDA-Climate Smart grant deliverables

A ssist with customer training, and work closely with dairy processor field team members to coordinate farm interactions and best customer experience.

Timely delivery of assessment results to farms .

Interface with farm advisors and industry technical consultants

Discuss GHG reduction options with farmers, advisors and processor field representatives to support adoption (impact), tracking of practices adopted as a result of this work so it can be reported to USDA

Work with Truterra team to improve tool functionality, reports and reporting

Develop summary information from outcomes of the GHG accounting work

Develop and deliver training materials

Assist with development and maintenance of project management documents (Gantt charts, accomplishment summaries, reports)

US travel up to 50 % of time

Minimum Experience/Knowledge:

• 5 years of professional experience in a field related to agriculture.

• Previous experience working with dairy

• Undergraduate or graduate degree(s) in Agriculture, Animal Science, Agricultural Engineering, Environmental Science, or closely related fieldor equivalent work experience

• Experience working with dairy farmers

• MS Office

• Strong communication skills

• Project management skills

• Self-starter

• Accomplishment-oriented

Preferred Experience/Knowledge

• More than 5 years of documented dairy systems professional experience

• Experience with and understanding of greenhouse gas emissions

• In-depth understanding of climate change mitigation and adaptation methods available to dairy farmers

• Experiential insights to conduct dairy whole farm environmental system scenario analysis

Salary is negotiable based on experience: $88,880 to $133,320
