Position Description
PRIMARY PURPOSE: Supervise and coordinate the activities of the Traffic Department to ensure timely receipt and shipment of customers' products and inventory
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Position Requirements
Education:
• High school diploma or GED
Preferred education:
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management or related discipline
• Continuing education in supply chain management
Experience:
• High-volume experience in a customer service, traffic, transportation, or fleet management role with major responsibility at a bulk terminal
Certifications, licenses, registrations:
• Must possess and maintain valid driver's license and maintain driver insurability
Competencies, skills, abilities:
• Demonstrated leadership competencies
• Engage as a team player with other terminal leaders to support the growth, development and operation of the terminal
• Be able to take direction from leaders and act accordingly within the instructions given, Core Principles and all KM policies and procures
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills including email and presentation skills
• Advanced MS Office skills including Excel
• Software inclusive of inventory management and accounting modules, i.e., SAP, Galahad, and Financial software Galahad, and Merlin
• Strong business acumen
• Ability to direct the work of others and be self-directed as well
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent math skills
Physical demands:
• Balance work day between office-based duties and exposure to yard, rail and barging operations
• Ability to wear five (5) points of PPE including hard hat, reflective protective clothing, gloves, safety glasses and steel-toed boots
• 20% of work is performed outdoors leading and directing staff and conducting terminal traffic management. Outdoor conditions consist of hazards including exposure to situations with a risk for injury such as proximity to moving equipment, electricity and working in high places and over water.
• Office Work: 80% of work is performed indoors. An average day includes standing, sitting, walking, navigating uneven surfaces, climbing stairs, finger dexterity, reading and writing associated with required documentation, file updating, telephone and radio communication, and computer operation.
