POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. This position will be responsible for overseeing several program departments and activities as it relates to overall program development, and planning and implementing program in accordance with the goals, policies and philosophy of the YMCA. This position will be responsible for establishing standards to create a positive program experience from the point of entry to the program experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Plan, initiate, coordinate, teach and deliver programs to preschool, youths, teens, families and adults year-round including summer day camps
Assist with YMCA Healthy Kids Day and other miscellaneous special events and community events
Recruit, train, and supervise appropriate staff and work with program volunteers for the execution of programs
Develop a positive public relations image for the YMCA in the Y's service area
Develop strong volunteer, parent, and community participation/involvement with programs.
Prepare, develop and control departmental budgets
In conjunction with the staff team, put together schedules and necessary data for program brochures, newsletters and other promotions materials
Implement processes that result in high customer satisfaction and professionalism amongst program staff
Participate in leadership and focus group meetings, association events and Annual Campaign
Purchase equipment, supplies, working with the budget provided
Develop a personal growth program through participation in cluster and field activities
Serves on Director on Duty rotation
Other duties as assigned


BRANCH SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Plan, coordinate, and implement Teen Leaders program and APS/SAW summer programming
Mentor and engage youth and teen members, as well as create after school activities for youth and teens.
Monitor the fitness center and gymnasium during after school hours (3-6pm)
Plan and assist with special events including but not limited to: Family Fun events, Healthy Kids Day, etc.
Act as outside groups liaison - pickle ball, wally ball, men's basketball
Develop City and Schools partnerships to provide programming - recess programs, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The preferred candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree and / or experience in a related field and at least 2 years of proven customer service experience.
Experience supervising others and a commitment to the YMCA Character Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Faith.
Must possess comprehensive computer skills
Ability to hire, train and supervise all ages of staff


WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.
Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight.
Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate with groups and individuals
Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency
Ability to view/enter data and use a computer for long periods of time.
Ability to think in abstract, problem solve, remember and reconstruct
