What we need:
Mohawk is looking for an entry level accountant to assist with general accounting duties, journal entry preparation, working with internal control and updating control process documents, moderate to complex G/L account reconciliations, periodic and ad hoc reporting, and audit support.
What you'll do:
Facilitate month end closing processes: prepare journal entries and general ledger reconciliation
Process monthly lease payments
842 Lease accounting
Provide analysis of assigned accounts and financial impact of transactions
Gather and prepare audit documentation
Work with internal controls and maintain Sarbanes-Oxley Act compliance by verifying the accuracy of methods and controls according to GAAP
Act as liaison between the accounting group and the business units ensuring compliance, continuous adherence to SOX and other regulatory guidelines, processes, and reporting requirements.
Supports the finance organization with projects stretching across the entire company
What you have:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline. Master's preferred
0 - 2 years of job specific work experience in corporate or multi-topic accounting environment or relevant public accounting experience
Strong technical skill in finance, accounting and business performance analysis and modeling
Experience developing effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems
Intermediate knowledge of spreadsheets packages, financial and accounting application software.
SAP experience preferred
Project management experience in executing projects through implementation, across multiple internal and external reporting and organizational lines preferred.
What you're good at:
Good oral, written, presentation and interpersonal communications skills; ability to effectively exercise tact, discretion, judgment and diplomacy when interacting with internal and external customers, and senior management. The ability to communicate with others in antagonistic situations using appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to maintain professionalism in accordance with corporate standards.
Utilize Microsoft Office tools especially Excel for analyzing data to provide to management for decision making.
Ability to research more complex accounting topics and draw relevant conclusions to present to management.
Willingness to learn from, and work with, diverse teams across functional areas.
Ability and willingness to accept responsibility, willingness to challenge established practices and draw relevant conclusions, including the persistence and willingness to take calculated risk, to stimulate, market and sell new ideas within the organization
Ability to perform in a high-pressure environment and/or crisis situation and maintain safety and ensure adherence to Corporate Code of Conduct
